GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Black leads Chargers to win at Western
Marisa Black won a 3-mile race in 24 minutes, 34 seconds Tuesday to lift Clark’s girls cross country team to a 27-31 win at Western.
Western’s Jessica Moreno was second in 28:06, followed closely by teammates Patti Ramirez (28:09) and Edelyn Mercado (28:18).
Andrea Ochoa-Zepeda took fifth in 28:44 for the Chargers, who snagged five of the top eight places.
Panthers win three-team meet
At Floyd Lamb Park, Palo Verde’s Marissa Suan won a 2.6-mile race in 16:06 to help Palo Verde to victory in a three-team meet.
The Panthers, with four of the top six finishers, scored 25 points to beat The Meadows (32) and Durango (77).
The Meadows’ Jeneke Heerema (16:55) was second, and teammate Bailey Gosse (16:56) was third.
Mustangs rout Grizzlies
At Shadow Ridge, Ciara Jackson won the 3.1-mile race in 21:44, and the Mustangs took the top seven spots to beat Spring Valley, 15-50.
Jessica Graff was second in 22:08, and Kaycee Jay Castle finished third in 22:12.
Cougars roll past Patriots
At Sonata Park, Coronado took the top six spots on the way to a 15-49 win over Liberty.
Sara Dort won the 2.8-mile race in 18:41.2. Logan Lucas was second in 19:27.9, followed by teammates Danielle Greene (20:08.2), Tristin Sanders (20:25.9) and Jessica Attebury (20:29.8).
Jaguars top Bulldogs
At Freedom Park, Virgin Valley’s Abbie Barnard won the 2.9-mile race in 20:22, but Desert Pines took the next 11 spots to top the Bulldogs.
Virgin Valley had only two runners.
Alondra Diaz (21:28) was second and Kenia Lopez (21:34) third for Desert Pines.
Gators cruise past Vikings
At Valley, Lindy Eskin won the 3.1-mile race in 19:29.3 as Green Valley swept the top five places en route to a 15-49 victory over the Vikings.
Stacie Hall was second for the Gators with a time of 19:34.1, while teammates Sara Braverman (19:40.1) and Jenna Landman (19:42.4) were close behind.
Green Valley’s Marisa Davidson was fifth, crossing the line in 20:51.
Bulldogs handle Diamondbacks
At Centennial, Sydney Badger easily won the 3.1-mile race with a time of 19:23.3, and the Bulldogs nabbed six of the top seven spots to post an 18-44 win over Desert Oasis.
Katie Gorczyca finished second for Centennial in 20:15.2, and teammate Marieta Wright was fourth in 23:30.6. Gabby Altmannsberger (23:41) took fifth for the Bulldogs.
Brooke Locey was third for the Diamondbacks, crossing in 22:35.9.
Aggies roll past Mountain Lions
At Floyd Lamb Park, Arbor View took the top 19 spots to gain an easy win over Sierra Vista, which had just three runners.
Zanae Jones won the 2.6-mile race in 15:51. Madison Fletcher was second in 16:50, and Ana Flaherty (18:30), Nicole Snow (18:31) and Brooke Leany (18:37) rounded out the top five.
