ROUNDUP: Cougars win girls cross country meet behind 1-2 finish by Laurent, Lucas

Coronado’s Michaelanne Laurent pulled away from the field Wednesday to easily win a girls meet at Liberty.

Laurent won the 2.6-mile race in 16:32. Coronado’s Lauren Lucas was second in 17:37.

The Cougars also won the team competition with 22 points. Liberty, the only other school to field a full team, had 37.

Liberty’s Joslyn Evans was third in 17:43. The Patriots’ Courtney Chin took fourth in 17:46.

1-2 punch lifts Tech
At Silverado, Tech’s Claudia Perez and Ana Mata took the top two spots as the Roadrunners won a four-team meet.

Tech had a team score of 26. Silverado was second with 34. Desert Pines (92) and Chaparral (97) rounded out the field.

Perez finished the 2.37-mile race in 16:34, nine seconds ahead of Mata.

Silverado’s Kerissa Anaya was third in 17:10.

Faith Lutheran rolls
Faith Lutheran’s Keely Bakken won the individual race in 15:06, and the Crusaders took five of the top six spots, finishing with 18 points.

They were the only team in the meet with a complete squad.

Centennial dominates
At Cimarron-Memorial, Centennial took the top nine spots to run away with the win and 15 points.

The Bulldogs easily beat the host Spartans (54) and Spring Valley (74).

Centennial’s Brittany Williams won in 17:32.
