ROUNDUP: Villa leads Vikings to victory in girls cross country

Wendy Villa led three Valley runners in the top six Tuesday, finishing first in a four-team girls meet at Del Sol.

Villa ran the 2.4-mile course in 16 minutes, 9 seconds, 25 seconds faster than Pahrump Valley’s Mackenzie Dean.

The Vikings had a team score of 34 to defeat Pahrump (45), Basic (54) and Del Sol (90).

Basic’s Liliana Lugo finished third in 16:56.

Leedy runs away at Foothill
Leah Leedy ran away from the field, finishing a 2.5-mile course in 14:50, to lead Foothill past Las Vegas.

Foothill’s Sage Long was second in 16:24.

The Falcons took the top five spots to finish with a team score of 15. Las Vegas’ score was 48. Mojave did not field a full team.

Shadow Ridge takes top five spots to win meet
At Cimarron-Memorial, Michelle Schenck finished first individually as Shadow Ridge swept the top five spots to win a three-team meet.

Schenck won the 2.7-mile race in 18:41. Schenck finished one second ahead of teammate Palolo Prince.

The Mustangs finished with 15 points, with Cimarron (59) second and Legacy (92)
