FIELDER’S CHOICE: Trying to stay perfect on Thursdays
It’s getting tougher, but so far I’ve managed to avoid showing up on camera during either TV game.
I’ve also managed to go 2-0 on my Thursday picks, so even though the games are taking forever to play, I’m liking this Thursday night stuff.
And it’s a chance to see even more cheerleaders each week, and who doesn’t like that? OK, maybe people who are missing out on “The King of Queens” reruns.
It’s back to nonleague for this week’s Thursday game … and back up that steep hill at Palo. Where’s the elevator when you need it?
Foothill (1-0) at Palo Verde (2-0)
Foothill has had tons of time to prepare for this game after narrowly beating Bonanza almost two weeks ago.
Connor Afoa is the main weapon for the Falcons. The team has 285 total yards and 14 points, and Afoa has 197 of those yards and 12 of the points.
Parker Riggin will throw a bit, though he’ll need time to do that.
Palo Verde is … well, Palo Verde. Through 1 1/2 games (last week against Mojave doesn’t count as a full game), the Panthers have outscored opponents 87-7.
Sean Mears passes just enough to keep defensive backs from cheating, and the Panthers have Tyrone Blake and Chap Thomas and Ernest Hall and Brandon Wright and someone named Jubilee (and it’s all about rejoicing when he’s running).
As long as the Panthers don’t look ahead to next week’s game against Cimarron, they should be in good shape here. Palo Verde by 9.
