FLAG FOOTBALL: Longhorns run past visiting Mustangs
Akia Williams and Avi’Ana Shelton each ran for a score and caught a touchdown pass Wednesday to lead Legacy’s flag football team to a 39-13 win over visiting Shadow Ridge.
Williams ran for 148 yards on 12 carries, and Shelton added 143 yards on 15 carries.
Nicole White tossed two touchdown passes for the Longhorns.
Spring Valley 40, Moapa Valley 21 — At Spring Valley, Amberlynn Twigg threw four touchdown passes and ran for two scores to lead the Grizzlies past the Pirates.
Twigg completed 20 of 30 passes for 433 yards. She also rushed for 79 yards on 12 carries.
Jozee DeCunzo caught 12 passes for 148 yards and two TDs for Spring Valley, which led 20-7 at the half. Doris Gutierrez-Hoyos added five catches for 107 yards, and teammate Michaela Hood had three catches for 82 yards and a TD for the Grizzlies.
Sunrise Mountain 25, Canyon Springs 18 — At Canyon Springs, the Miners edged the Pioneers in overtime.
Tea Rivera ran for a score and tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Yareli Trujillo for Canyon Springs, which also got a touchdown run from Arielle Strong.
Del Sol 24, Desert Pines 6 — At Del Sol, Kalijah Williams ran for touchdowns of 5 and 13 yards as the Dragons downed the Jaguars.
Lauren Cranor had a 5-yard TD run, and Savannah Rodriguez returned an interception 60 yards for a score for Del Sol.
Silverado 28, Las Vegas 20 — At Las Vegas, the Skyhawks topped the Wildcats.
Danielle Ruesch caught two touchdown passes, and Jocelyn Leyva caught a scoring pass for Las Vegas.
Arbor View 13, Virgin Valley 12 — At Mesquite, the Aggies scored a touchdown and go-ahead extra point with 1 minute, 50 seconds left to top the Bulldogs.
Cheyenne 20, Durango 0 — At Durango, the Desert Shields blanked the Trailblazers.
Valley 40, Liberty 0 — At Valley, the Vikings routed the Patriots.
Palo Verde 27, Sierra Vista 7 — At Palo Verde, the Panthers topped the Mountain Lions.
