FLAG FOOTBALL: Murrietta’s TD tosses help Mustangs edge Mountain Lions
Alexia Murrietta threw two touchdown passes Tuesday to help Shadow Ridge’s flag football team to a 21-20 win over visiting Sierra Vista.
Murrietta, who completed 7 of 15 passes for 133 yards, hit Briana Vieths on a 60-yard scoring pass and Alejandra Lara on a 5-yard TD toss.
Joryan Brewer added 85 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for Shadow Ridge, which stopped the Mountain Lions on fourth down with a minute to play.
Canyon Springs 21, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Tea Rivera tossed two touchdown passes to Sydney Morris to lead the Pioneers by the Jaguars.
Rivera, who completed 5 of 10 passes for 176 yards, hit Morris on scoring plays of 20 and 55 yards. Morris caught five passes for 111 yards.
Shania Hooks added a rushing touchdown for Canyon Springs.
Mariyah Espinoza had 120 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for Desert Pines, which got two interceptions from Selena Rodriguez.
Green Valley 35, Sunrise Mountain 19 — At Sunrise Mountain, Morgan Gibson threw for 372 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Gators over the Miners.
Gibson completed 26 of 37 and added a rushing TD for the Gators. Kayla Anderson caught seven passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns, and Carli Perkins had a touchdown catch for Green Valley, which got an interception return for a touchdown by Bailey Webster.
Alexus Aragon caught two TD passes for Sunrise Mountain.
Palo Verde 26, Spring Valley 7 —At Palo Verde, Daniesha Clayton, Caitlyn Oxford and Cydnee Bush each had a rushing touchdown as the Panthers beat the Grizzlies.
Morgan Myers had a touchdown catch for the Panthers, who overcame an early 7-0 deficit.
Arbor View 25, Cheyenne 0 — At Arbor View, Mia D’Arienzo rushed for two touchdowns as the Aggies blanked the Desert Shields.
Francesca D’Arienzo rushed 128 yards and a touchdown for Arbor View. Haley Nibarger caught four passes for 101 yards, and had two interceptions for the Aggies.
Moapa Valley 19, Durango 0 — At Overton, Shayla Pratt threw for 200 yards and a touchdown to lead the Pirates over the Trailblazers.
Angie Schamanek and Brighten Crawford each ran for a score, and Hattie Gordon added a TD reception for Moapa Valley.
Valley 14, Las Vegas 12 — At Las Vegas, Maria Garcia and Shyanne Purdy each rushed for a second-half TD as the Vikings rallied for a victory over the Wildcats.
Danielle Ruesch had a TD catch for Las Vegas, which led 6-0 at the half.
Cierra Turner added eight catches for 98 yards for the Wildcats.
