The freshman was 4-for-4 with a home run, three doubles and five RBIs in a 9-4 victory over Clark.

BOYS TRACK

Reno Tu’ufuli

Liberty

The senior won the discus at the Stanford Invitational with a throw of 196 feet, 10 inches. That’s the best mark in the nation this season, according to dyestat.com.

GIRLS TRACK

Clarissa Maxey

Faith Lutheran

The junior sprinter won three events at the Arbor View Invitational. Maxey won the 100-meter dash in 12.67 seconds, the 200 in 25.9 and the 400 in 1:00.62.

HEAD OF THE CLASS

BISHOP GORMAN — Baseball player Drew Newson was 4-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs in an 18-2 win over Bonanza.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Baseball player Adam Mitchell went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBIs in a 14-4 victory over Desert Oasis.

CLARK — Girls swimmer Jayla Thirtyacre won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 32.96 seconds, and was second in the 100 backstroke to lead the Chargers to a 144-109 win over Legacy. Boys swimmer Joshua Cooper was second in the 100 backstroke against Legacy.

DESERT OASIS — Girls swimmer Haley Leavitt won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 freestyle against Spring Valley. Boys track athlete Gary Abdella won the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 6 inches at the Arbor View Invitational.

MOJAVE — Softball player Danette Daguiar was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in a 12-8 victory over Chaparral.

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Softball player Amanda Estores went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, four runs and a stolen base in the first game of a doubleheader against The Meadows.

SILVERADO — Boys track athlete Cody Hudson was second in the 300-meter hurdles (39.65 seconds) and third in the 110 hurdles (16.08) at the Skyhawk Invitational. Softball player Ari Monturio batted .600 with two RBIs in the team’s first two league games, including a 4-2 win over rival Green Valley.
