HEAD OF THE CLASS: Nikoletta Nikoloff leads Coronado girls to region title

Omar Rubio, Green Valley
The senior won the large school race at the Lake Mead Invitational at Boulder City’s Veterans Memorial Park with a time of 16 minutes, 24.4 seconds for 3.1 miles. Rubio led the Gators to the team title with 40 points.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Diamond Morris, Tech
The freshman won the small school race at the Lake Mead Invitational at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City with a time of 21 minutes, 37.6 seconds for 3.1 miles. The Roadrunners rolled to the team title with 17 points.

Kenyon Oblad, Liberty
The junior quarterback set an 11-man state record with 505 passing yards in a 62-14 victory over Foothill. Oblad completed 25 of 32 passes and threw six touchdowns.

GIRLS GOLF
Hunter Pate, Bishop Gorman
The junior was the medalist in both of the Gaels’ Southwest League victories, shooting 2-under-par 70 at Angel Park and 2-over 73 at Bear’s Best.

Musio Jimenez-Vazquez, Sunrise Mountain
The senior had four goals and four assists in a 12-1 rout of Cheyenne.

Dona Acierto, Clark
The junior scored twice in a 2-1 win over Bonanza and then added three goals and an assist in the Chargers’ 4-0 win over Durango.

Nathaniel van der Post, The Meadows
The senior was 3-0 in singles to help The Meadows to an 11-7 victory over Boulder City in the Class 3A Southern Region title match. It was the school’s first boys region tennis title.

Nikoletta Nikoloff, Coronado
The senior came up big when it mattered most, going 3-0 in singles and losing only one game to lead the Cougars to a 10-9 victory over Liberty for the Sunrise Region title.

Kamaile Mendonsa, Legacy
The junior setter finished with 65 assists and 12 digs in the Longhorns’ five-set victory over Palo Verde that kept their postseason hopes alive.

ARBOR VIEW — Girls soccer player Allyssa Larkin had two goals in a 3-0 victory over Shadow Ridge.
CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Girls setter Logan DeLong had a total of 15 assists, 14 digs, seven kills and two digs against Centennial and Palo Verde. Football player Tyree Riley had 27 carries for 164 yards against Shadow Ridge.
CORONADO — Girls golfer Victoria Estrada shot 4-under-par 68 to win the Sunrise Region individual title.
DESERT OASIS — Boys tennis players Caiden Jacob and Tyler Parlade teamed to win two doubles matches at the Sunset Region individual tournament.
FAITH LUTHERAN — Football player Joshua Hong had two interceptions and five tackles in a 22-19 victory over Legacy. Girls tennis player Paige Erlanger won a pair of matches to advance to the Sunset Regin singles quarterfinals.
LIBERTY — Girls soccer player Gia Maisano had the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Basic.
MOJAVE — Girls golfer Grecia Cano shot 112 to tie for fourth in a Class 3A Sunset League match at Mountain Falls. Football player Taiwan Braden passed for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 115 yards and a TD in a 41-8 win over Western.
MOUNTAIN VIEW — Football player Isiah Johnson caught five passes for 94 yards against The Meadows. Girls golfer Kristine Horita placed fifth at the Class 2A state tournament with a two-round score of 213.
PAHRUMP VALLEY — Football player Drew Walker rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-33 victory over Sunrise Mountain. Girls soccer player Madeline Pereira-Villafuerte helped key the defense in a 0-0 tie with Western.
PALO VERDE — Boys soccer player Anthony Kaskie had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Legacy. Girls soccer player Gia Barone had a goal and an assist in a 9-1 victory over Legacy.
SIERRA VISTA — Girls volleyball player Faith Gray-Williams had 29 assists and 22 digs in a 3-1 win Desert Oasis. Boys tennis player Rahul Gupte advanced to the Sunset Region singles quarterfinals.
WESTERN — Football player Kwan Carter had two carries for 55 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown run, and caught seven passes for 67 yards against Mojave.
