Leavitt’s second quarter TD passes spark Virgin Valley
Virgin Valley’s Terran Leavitt threw two second-quarter touchdown passes as the Bulldogs won 42-16 to spoil Boulder City’s Homecoming.
Virgin Valley (6-1, 2-0 3A Southern League) held Boulder City to just 20 yards on 22 carries.
Leavitt’s touchdown passes went to Shandron Meira and Tyson Gleave.
Gleave also ran back an interception for a score in the fourth quarter and ran for 86 yards on 12 carries.
Boulder City (4-3, 0-2) scored first on a field goal by Jake Phillips, but never recovered after giving up the consecutive scores.
The Eagles made several costly turnovers in the second half, and the Bulldogs capitalized on each one.
Colton Teerlink had a game-high 93 yards on 26 carries for Virgin Valley, including a 14-yard TD run.
The lone bright spot for Boulder City in the second half was an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jeremy Smith.
