Here is a look at some of the week’s top high school sports events.

BASEBALL

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday — Palo Verde vs. Centennial

This series could well decided the Northwest League. Centennial is 11-1 in the league and the Panthers will enter the series with an 8-1 record. The teams play on Monday at Centennial before moving to Palo Verde for the final two games.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday — Arbor View vs. Faith Lutheran

The Aggies and Crusaders are battling for a playoff berth in the Northwest League. Arbor View currently has an advantage, as the Aggies are 4-5 in league play. But Faith Lutheran is just a game back at 3-6. The teams play on Monday at Faith Lutheran, with the final two games of the series scheduled for Arbor View.

Friday — Green Valley at Liberty, 3:30 p.m.

Green Valley has moved into the top four in the Sunrise League, but face stiff competition in Liberty. The Patriots are coming off an upset over top-ranked Rancho on Thursday.

Saturday — Coronado at Rancho, 10 a.m.

A key matchup for teams at the top of the Sunrise League. The Rams currently lead the league standings at 10-2, but Coronado is right behind at 9-3.

BOYS GOLF

Monday-Tuesday — Southern Nevada Invitational at Reflection Bay Golf Club, noon

Coronado has dominated seemingly every match it has been in this season, but is by no means a shoo-in for this top tournament. Palo Verde won last year’s state title, and Faith Lutheran, Bishop Gorman, Boulder City, Green Valley, Foothill and Arbor View will be among the local teams competing.

SOFTBALL

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday — Palo Verde vs. Centennial

If anyone in the Northwest League can stop defending state-champion Palo Verde, the Bulldogs may be the last hope. Palo Verde has rolled through in-state competition, and will host Tuesday and Thursday, with Monday at Centennial.

Tuesday — Boulder City at Chaparral, 3:30 p.m.

Two of the top teams in Class 3A meet in what will be a pivotal game. Neither wants that second Sunrise League loss, and this match-up could end up being for a first-round home game in the postseason.

Wednesday — Liberty at Basic, 3:30 p.m.

Basic took its first Southeast League loss last week, but still sits atop the standings. The Patriots have had a strong showing in league play, and will look to prove themselves against the current leader.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

Shadow Ridge vs. Spring Valley at Pavilion, 8 a.m.

This Sunset Region matchup features some of the top swimmers in the region. Shadow Ridge’s Charlotte Brereton has the region’s top time in the girls 500-yard freestyle (5:20.88). Spring Valley’s Caleb Gould holds the region’s top time in the boys 500 freestyle (4:46.72).

TRACK AND FIELD

Friday-Saturday — Skyhawk Invitational

Teams from across the Las Vegas Valley — 36 of them to be exact — will congregate at Silverado to compete in the two-day meet. Events begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and resume at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Tuesday — Foothill at Coronado, 6 p.m.

The Cougars sit atop the uber competitive Sunrise League, and will welcome their crosstown rival for a matchup that figures to affect the league title race. Both teams are unbeaten in league play.
