BASEBALL: Bellamy’s double keys Coronado rally in win over Liberty
Corben Bellamy’s two-run double in the top of the sixth inning Friday sparked a six-run rally as Coronado’s baseball team came from behind to beat host Liberty, 10-5.
Bellamy was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Coronado, which trailed 5-4 heading into the top of the sixth inning.
Noah Hemphill went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and a RBI for the Cougars.
Justin Lutes was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Liberty.
Desert Oasis 5, Canyon View (Utah) 4 — At Desert Oasis, Andrew Martinez walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to give the Diamondbacks the win over the Falcons.
Alfred DelSangro singled to lead off the bottom of the inning. Ty Speigel walked, and Parker Schmidt bunted for a hit to load the bases with no outs.
DelSangro was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Brett Brocoff went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Desert Oasis.
Chaparral 5, Virgin Valley 0 — At Chaparral, Erick Villarreal tossed a three-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Cowboys by the Bulldogs.
Antonio Vara was 3-for-3 with two runs, and Mark O’Connor went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Chaparral.
Bonanza 8, Legacy 1 — At Bonanza, Chris Dunn went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Eric Schultz and Torren Brozovich each homered as the Bengals downed the Longhorns.
Byron Naftzger tossed a four-hitter and struck out three for Bonanza.
Moapa Valley 8, Desert Pines 4 — At Overton, Bo Redd belted a two-run home run in a four-run fourth inning that lifted the Pirates by the Jaguars.
Anthony Cornwall added a double and two RBIs for Moapa Valley.
Green Valley 15, Eldorado 0 — At Green Valley, Drake Maningo was 3-for-3 with a triple, two doubles, two runs and four RBIs as the Gators routed the Sundevils in five innings.
Jimmy Montiel went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs, and A.J. Amelburu went 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs for Green Valley. Matt Gilbertson was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs for the Gators.
Tyler Henry tossed a three-hitter and struck out six for Green Valley.
Rancho 16, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Layton Walls, Anthony Becerra, Anthony Munoz and Jimmy Gamboa combined on a one-hitter to lead the Rams by the Pioneers in five innings.
Edarian Williams was 3-for-3, and Angel Walker went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs for Rancho.
Tech 12, Del Sol 2 — At Tech, Alexis Acosta went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs while also pitching a four-hitter and striking out four to lead the Roadrunners past the Dragons in five innings.
Chandler Gehring went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs for Tech, and teammate Jalen Birch was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs.
Jayce Otis was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for the Roadrunners.
Mojave 17, Pahranagat Valley 4 — At Mojave, the Rattlers scored 12 runs in the first inning en route to the easy win over the Panthers.
Cameron Torres went 2-for-2 with four RBIs to lead Mojave. Elijah Glaze allowed two hits and struck out five in four innings to earn the win.
Pahranagat Valley turned a triple play in the third inning.
Foothill 10, Kearns (Utah) 3 — At St. George, Utah, Kelton McCall went 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Falcons downed the Cougars in the Foot and Ankle Institute Invitational.
Tyler Kara was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Foothill.
Winning pitcher Shay Landers allowed five hits and one run in six innings. He struck out five.
Foothill 7, Northridge (Utah) 2 — At St. George, Utah, Trentin Price allowed a run on four hits over six innings to lead the Falcons over the Knights in the Foot and Ankle Institute Invitational.
Price struck out four.
Shay Landers was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Falcons’ offense.
Ethan Udy doubled twice for Northridge.
Lincoln County 7-13, Lake Mead 4-7 — At Heritage Park, Cody Thornock had three hits in the opener as the Lynx swept the Eagles.
Kevin Mathews had two hits and an RBI in the finale for Lincoln County, which broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning.
Lake Mead’s Mark Costolo had two hits and two RBIs in the first game, and teammates Hunter Harris and T.J. Yurek each had two hits in the nightcap.
Needles 21-14, Agassi Prep 7-0 — At Needles, California, the Mustangs swept the Stars.
Round Mountain 10-23, Sandy Valley 5-3 — At Sandy Valley, the Knights swept a doubleheader from the Sidewinders.
