BASEBALL: Chargers rally in seventh, top Warriors
Brien Campbell hit a two-run single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning Wednesday to lift Clark’s baseball team to a 4-3 victory over host Western.
Clark trailed 3-1 entering the seventh, but Ryan Ebel started the rally by reaching on an error and moving to second on a passed ball. Fernando Reza singled home Ebel with one out, and Zachary Graham doubled to move Reza to third with two outs.
That set the stage for Campbell, who finished 3-for-4.
Western’s Osvaldo Escobar struck out 13 in a losing effort.
Tech 5, Desert Pines 2 — At Desert Pines, Elias Peinado went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Bryan Casas was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI to help the Roadrunners defeat the Jaguars.
Winning pitcher Abel Martinez went the distance with 11 strikeouts and added a double for Tech, which also got two hits and an RBI from Sebastian Fitzgerald and two hits from Jayce Otis.
Iquan Corsey was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs for Desert Pines.
Faith Lutheran 9, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Dakota Greenawalt was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI to lift the Crusaders past the Rattlers.
Brandon Johnson struck out seven in five innings to earn the win for Faith Lutheran, which got home runs from Logan Etherington and Erich Uelmen.
Uelmen finished with three RBIs, and Cameron Sepede added a double for the Crusaders.
Mojave’s Tyson Goodrich had an RBI single in the fifth to plate the Rattlers’ lone run.
Pahrump Valley 8, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Eduardo Gonzalez pitched a four-hitter and struck out three to help the Trojans defeat the Desert Shields.
A.J. Segura was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and teammate Cody Kovatch went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Pahrump.
Richard Greene added a double for the Trojans, who led 6-1 after four innings.
Brian Corder was 2-for-3 for Cheyenne.
Basic 11, Eldorado 0 — At Basic, Taylor Ferdinand fired his second straight no-hitter, and batterymate Isaac Perez went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs as the Wolves blanked the Sundevils in five innings.
Ferdinand struck out two and walked two, but he still faced the minimum as Basic turned two double plays. Ferdinand was coming off a five-inning no-hitter against Poly (Calif.) on April 15 in the Blazer Spring Bash.
Logan Green was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Josh McLean and Ryne Nelson each supplied a double for Basic.
Liberty 5, Foothill 1 — At Liberty, Preston Pavlica went 2-for-3 with a double, and winning pitcher Jay Martz helped himself with a two-run single as the Patriots downed the Falcons.
Jesse Keiser added a double for Liberty.
Nick Cardinale had a double for Fooothill.
Coronado 9, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Sterling Saltz’s inside-the-park homer keyed a four-run fourth inning as the Cougars downed the Dragons.
Caden Spilsbury had a solo home run, and Derek Clelan and Nicco Festa each supplied three hits for Coronado. Zach Dunham added two hits for the Cougars.
Adam Garcia struck out eight in four innings to earn the win.
Christian Wallace provided an RBI single that scored Stanley Natale for Del Sol’s lone run.
Cimarron-Memorial 14, Desert Oasis 10 — At Desert Oasis, Niko Decolati hit for the cycle and finished 5-for-5 with six RBIs to power the Spartans past the Diamondbacks.
Trevor Lippard was 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs, and Luis Flores went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Cimarron, which had 19 hits.
Miquel Robinson and Adam Mitchell each added two hits and two runs for the Spartans, and Jamie Yanchisin had two RBIs.
Alex Tafesh went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Desert Oasis.
Bryson Stott was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and Dominic Paratore went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Diamondbacks, who scored six runs in the sixth to cut Cimarron’s lead to 11-10.
Centennial 7, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Cooper Powell spun a six-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and no walks as the Bulldogs blanked the Longhorns.
Will Loucks went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI, and Jacob Horton was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI to lead Centennial.
Donta Williams went 2-for-3 for Legacy.
Bishop Gorman 15, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, Nick Gates went 3-for-3 with three doubles and an RBI, and Brandon Wulff was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Gaels routed the Bengals in five innings.
Cole Krzmarzick was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Cadyn Grenier went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Gorman, which scored 10 runs in the top of the first.
Hunter Junge hit a two-run home run for Bonanza.
