BASEBALL: Crone brothers lead Cowboys past Eagles for first place in Sunrise
Tyler Crone and Tommy Crone combined on a four-hitter Monday to help Chaparral’s baseball team defeat visiting Boulder City, 4-2, in a battle for first place in the Sunrise League.
Tommy Crone went 3-for-3 with a double and a run for the Cowboys (17-7, 8-1 Sunrise).
Preston Van Diest was 2-for-2 and scored twice for the Eagles (14-6-2, 6-2).
Green Valley 7, Silverado 1 — At Silverado, Keola Paragas was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to help the Gators top the Skyhawks.
Keaton Smith went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Green Valley, which scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Jarrett Perns and Cody Milner each went 2-for-4 for the Gators.
Green Valley’s Ryan Jackson tossed a three-hitter and struck out three.
Durango 7, Spring Valley 4 — At Durango, Anthony Parry got three straight strikeouts to pitch out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh inning and lead the Trailblazers by the Grizzlies.
Parry went the distance and allowed nine hits, but struck out eight. He also had a double and an RBI.
Dustin Levin doubled and had an RBI for Durango.
Arbor View 7, Palo Verde 6 — At Arbor View, Sid Cutting doubled and had two RBIs, and the Aggies built a 7-4 lead after four innings and held off the Panthers.
Winning pitcher Gabe Gonzalez struck out eight in four innings.
Tech 6, Virgin Valley 3 — At Mesquite, Abel Martinez tossed a four-hitter and struck out 13 to lead the Roadrunners by the Bulldogs.
Jalen Birch was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Chandler Gehring went 2-for-3 for Tech.
Cheyenne 11, Moapa Valley 10 — At Overton, George Carmona’s RBI double in the top of the seventh inning plated Titus Quintanilla with the winning run as the Desert Shields nipped the Pirates.
Carmona was 1-for-4 with four RBIs, and Terry Oeschlin went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Cheyenne.
Chad Jones was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs for Moapa Valley.
Las Vegas 14, Valley 1 — At Las Vegas, Kevin Fedde and Armando Corral combined on a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Wildcats past the Vikings.
Antonio Gaxiola and Parker Lowe each hit a double for Las Vegas. Jared Herrera scored twice for the Wildcats.
Rancho 12, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Kavion Kealoha tossed a one-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Rams by the Pioneers in five innings.
Bryce Harrell, David Modler and Braulio Santiaguin each had two hits for Rancho.
Desert Pines 8, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Desert Pines, Iquan Corsey scored four runs as the Jaguars downed the Miners.
Natron Auelua-Naki had an RBI double for Desert Pines.
