BASEBALL: Gehring’s hit lifts Tech past Del Sol
Chandler Gehring’s RBI single with two outs in the top of the fifth inning Wednesday gave Tech’s baseball team a 1-0 road win over Del Sol.
Sebastian Fitzgerald went the distance, scattering seven hits and striking out two to get the win.
Gehring was 2-for-4, and Trevor Kephart went 2-for-3 for the Roadrunners.
Cordell Bowie was 2-for-3 for the Dragons.
Desert Oasis 6, Las Vegas 1 — At Las Vegas, A.J. Landis threw a three-hitter with four strikeouts as the Diamondbacks beat the Wildcats.
Bryson Stott was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs, and Kyle Fuentes went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Desert Oasis.
Caeden Marin was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Chase Adams went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Boulder City 10, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Boulder City, Preston Van Diest and Jake Hubel combined on a no-hitter as the Eagles beat the Miners in five innings.
Van Diest struck out eight and walked three in four innings, and Hubel fanned two batters in the fifth.
Austin Shepard was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Steve Wagner was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Boulder City.
Liberty 14, Palo Verde 4 — At Liberty, Preston Pavlica was 2-for-2 with two homers, five RBIs and three runs to help the Patriots beat the Panthers in six innings.
Omar Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two RBIs and two runs, and Jonny Gilleres hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to end the game by the 10-run rule.
Brandon Soratos was 2-for-2 with a homer, three runs and an RBI for Liberty, and Nick Woolery supplied a home run, two runs and two RBIs for the Patriots.
J.D. Brooks doubled twice and scored a run for Palo Verde.
Chaparral 10, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Eric Villareal tossed a four-hitter with eight strikeouts to help the Cowboys beat the Bulldogs.
Villareal also scored twice for Chaparral, and teammate Brandon Scott was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Thomas Pablo added two hits for the Cowboys, who led 8-1 after two innings.
Centennial 15, Valley 1 — At Centennial, Jake Portaro went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs, and Zach Dixon tripled twice as the Bulldogs routed the Vikings in five innings.
Bryce Rheault was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and winning pitcher Kyle Horton was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs for Centennial.
Jared Limbeck had an RBI double for Valley.
Arbor View 10, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Nick Quintana was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs as the Aggies beat the Pioneers in five innings.
Chris Villarias allowed one hit in 3 2/3 shutout innings to get the win.
R.J. Rodriguez added a triple and two runs for Arbor View.
Moapa Valley 15, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Riley Longman threw a three-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 2-for-2 with an RBI to power the Pirates past the Jaguars in five innings.
Chaz Cornwall and Drake Staheli each supplied two hits, and Anthony Cornwall added an RBI double for Moapa Valley, which used an eight-run third to pull away.
Turner Klingermeier had an RBI single for Desert Pines.
