BASEBALL: Green Valley scores on wild pitch, wins in 12th

Keaton Smith scored an unearned run on a bases-loaded wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning Saturday to lift Green Valley’s baseball team to a 1-0 win over visiting Desert Oasis.

Smith walked after Cody Milner doubled to begin the 12th inning. After Milner was forced at third on a bunt attempt, Troy Cropper reached on another error to load the bases.

Anthony Hatch fouled out before the wild pitch allowed Smith to score.

Keola Paragas worked four innings of relief, striking out eight, to earn the win in relief of Blake Inouye, who struck out seven in eight innings. Milner finished 2-for-5 for Green Valley.

Desert Oasis starter A.J. Landis allowed just two hits and struck out six in 10 innings.

Foothill 5, Silverado 3 — At Foothill, Spencer Throgmorton went 2-for-3 and scored two runs as the Falcons battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to top the Skyhawks.

Bligh Madris was 3-for-4, and Daniel Hauck went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Foothill. Alec Mathis was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Collin Dobrolecki went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Falcons.

Vincent Taormina was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Silverado. Dillon Johnson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and James Skelly went 2-for-3 for the Skyhawks.

Coronado 14-5, Spring Valley 4-9 — At Spring Valley, Jacen Yurgensen went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs in the opener as the Cougars earned a split with the Grizzlies.

Austin Garcia went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, and Sterling Saltz was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the opener. Coronado scored eight runs in the first inning and cruised to a five-inning win.

In the nightcap, Cody Watkins was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Michael Macove was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI to help the Grizzlies salvage the split.

Bryce Bullock tripled and doubled for Spring Valley.

Jackson Cofer was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Tanner Bellamy was 2-for-4 with a double for Coronado.

Sierra Vista 13, Oregon City (Ore.) 0 — At Sierra Vista, Tyler Charlton tossed a five-inning five-hitter to help the Mountain Lions top Oregon City.

Carden Marin was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs, and Chandler Smith went 3-for-3 for Sierra Vista.

Shadow Ridge 4, Westlake (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Isaiah Blaylock and Trevin Reynolds combined on a three-hitter to lead the Mustangs by Westlake in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Francisco Robles was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Tyler Burton went 2-for-3 with a double for Shadow Ridge, which got a solo home run from Jordan Johnson.

Shadow Ridge 10, Highland (Utah) 3 — At St. George, Utah, Burton went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and the Mustangs rallied from a 3-0 fifth-inning deficit to beat Highland in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Jakob Chambers was 2-for-3 with a double, and Robles and Robbie Galvan each went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Las Vegas 15, Highland (Utah) 14 — At St. George, Utah, Jose Sanchez’s one-out bases-loaded single in the bottom of seventh inning plated Jason Herrera and Jared Herrera with the tying and winning runs as the Wildcats nipped Highland in the Snow Canyon Classic.

The Wildcats led 8-1 after five innings and 13-7 after six innings, but Highland scored seven runs in the seventh to take a 14-13 lead.

With one out in the bottom of the inning, Highland pitcher Gavin Turnipseed hit three consecutive batters to load the bases for Sanchez, who singled to left-center.

Sanchez finished 4-for-6 with a triple. Noah Ponce added three hits and two RBIs for Las Vegas.

Las Vegas 3, Salem Hills (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Jaime Solis fired a two-hitter as the Wildcats won in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Solis struck out 11 and walked two.

Hector Perez had a two-out RBI double in the second to score pinch-runner Dino Young.

The Wildcats added two runs in the fifth, both coming in on a two-out error.

Canyon View (Utah) 10, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Zack Brinkerhoff and Xavier Stoker combined on a six-inning one-hitter as the Falcons topped the Cowboys.

Keaton Kringlen homered for Canyon View.

Tommy Crone’s fourth-inning single was Chaparral’s only hit.
