BASEBALL: Johnny Ball goes distance to help Legacy beat Shadow Ridge
Johnny Ball tossed a four-hitter, striking out 10 and allowing four hits, as the Legacy baseball team topped visiting Shadow Ridge on Tuesday, 4-1.
Jordan Crawford doubled and knocked in two runs for the Longhorns, Anthony Lomeli doubled and scored, and Donta Williams had an RBI double.
Jesse Meyer and Trent McGregor each doubled for the Mustangs.
Sierra Vista 7, Durango 4 — At Sierra Vista, Alex Chavira tripled and scored twice and threw a complete game to power the Mountain Lions over the Trailblazers.
Nicholas Morice and Daymien Yohner each had three RBIs, and Chafton Temple scored twice for Sierra Vista.
Duke Pahukoa had a double and scored twice for the Trailblazers.
Centennial 8, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Tanner Wright knocked in four runs, and the Bulldogs scored seven runs in the final two innings to rally by the Crusaders to clinch the Northwest League title.
Kyle Horton doubled and scored twice for the Bulldogs, and Garrett Holden went the distance on the mound and struck out seven.
Jacob Ortega went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles for the Crusaders.
Desert Oasis 10, Bonanza 2 — At Desert Oasis, Brett Brocoff had a grand slam to go with a double and five RBIs as the Diamondbacks took down the Bengals.
Chaison Miklich and Cole Schaefer each had a pair of hits and an RBI for Desert Oasis.
Bonanza’s Danny Ruiz was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Palo Verde 15, Cimarron-Memorial 4 — At Cimarron, Jaret Godman went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, four RBIs and three runs as the Panthers routed the Spartans.
Jacob Godman, Ryan Merino, and Dylan Orlando all doubled for the Panthers, who scored 10 runs in the final two innings.
Derek Decolati doubled and had two RBIs for Cimarron, and teammate Seth Hoffman hit a double.
Liberty 12, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Jacob Rogers went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and the Patriots scored seven runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Sundevils in five innings.
Andrew Gallegos was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and teammate Michael Wong added three hits for Liberty. Luis Reyes earned the win for the Patriots, who got two hits, two RBIs and two runs from Ethan Safier.
Ozzy Ojeda supplied an RBI single for Eldorado.
Desert Pines 12, Western 1 — At Western, Daniel Mendez went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Steven Laureano was 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Jaguars defeated the Warriors in five innings.
James Greco added two hits for Desert Pines, which scored 11 runs in the first inning. Salvador Becerra fired a three-hitter with five strikeouts to pick up the win for the Jaguars.
Michael Davison hit a double for Western.
Pahrump Valley 14, Sunrise Mountain 4 — At Sunrise Mountain, Garrett Lucas went 2-for-3 with six RBIs, and Parker Hart was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs as the Trojans dominated the Miners.
Willie Lucas and Drew Walker each supplied two hits for Pahrump Valley, which rallied from a 4-3 deficit with three runs in the top of the fourth. Winning pitcher Bradda Costa scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out 10 for the Trojans.
Cecil Hall hit a triple for Sunrise Mountain.
Mojave 18, Cheyenne 1 — At Mojave, winning pitcher Rease McClain went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Andrew Foley was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs as the Rattlers topped the Desert Shields in three innings.
Elijah Glaze was 2-for-2 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs, and Devin Johnson supplied a two-run single for Mojave, which scored 12 runs in the first inning.
Lake Mead 5, Calvary Chapel 2 — At Lake Mead, winning pitcher Ryan Kennedy went 3-for-3 with a triple, double and two runs scored to lead the Eagles over the Lions.
Joey Girodano doubled for the Eagles.
Calvary Chapel’s Coby Delaney hit a double.
Indian Springs 15, Sandy Valley 0 — At Indian Springs, Wrench Perry went 3-for-3 with a home run to lead the Thunderbirds over the Sidewinders in three innings.
Nino Alvarez went 2-for-3 with two triples for the Thunderbirds, Philip Reimer hit two doubles, and Elyas Jones doubled.
Pahranagat Valley 17, Mountain View 1 — At Mountain View, Ike Taylor went 2-for-2 and earned the win on the mound with six strikeouts as the Panthers routed the Saints.
Tabor Maxwell had two hits and two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley, which scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to pull away.
Isiah Johnson had an RBI single and a stolen base for Mountain View.
Laughlin 7, JV Boulder City 6 — At Laughlin, the Cougars edged the Eagles’ junior varsity.
