BASEBALL: Pastrone’s two-run homer helps Aggies top Diamondbacks

Arbor View’s Sam Pastrone stroked a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning to give the Aggies a 4-3 road victory over Desert Oasis on Wednesday.

Pastrone went 2-for-3 and also earned the win, striking out nine in five innings of work.

Ryan McHale added a solo home run for Arbor View, and Brady Borden struck out three in 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn the save.

Bryson Stott had a double for Desert Oasis.

Bonanza 10, Centennial 7 — At Centennial, the Bengals scored four runs with two outs in the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie en route to the win over the Bulldogs.

Jay DeSoto’s two-out, two-run double started the rally for Bonanza. Micah Higa was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Bengals, and DeSoto finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Hunter Junge was 3-for-4, Luis Lares was 2-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI for Bonanza, which got a two-run triple from Casey Ladeira.

Travis Stevens went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Centennial. Tanner Wright and Tyler Hennis each added two hits for the Bulldogs.

Basic 7, Foothill 2 — At Basic, Ryne Nelson went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Cory Wills was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI as the Wolves defeated the Falcons.

Logan Green homered, Jack Wold had two hits and an RBI, and Garrett Giles added a double for Basic.

Tanner Roundy went the distance, allowing five hits and fanning eight for the Wolves.

Trentin Price hit a double for Foothill.

Bishop Gorman 7, North Shore (Canada) 0 — At Gorman, Alex Perron tossed a one-hitter to lead the Gaels by the Twins in the Desert Classic.

Perron struck out seven and walked five. He didn’t allow a runner to reach third base.

Matt Hudgins went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI, and Grant Robbins was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Gorman. Cadyn Grenier was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs for the Gaels, who led 5-0 after two innings.

Coronado 11, Rancho 1 — At Coronado, Adam Garcia threw a three-hitter as the Cougars beat the Rams in five innings.

Garcia allowed an unearned run, struck out seven and walked none.

Nicco Festa went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Jordan Dalrymple was 2-for-3 with three runs for Coronado. Jacen Yergensen went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and teammate Nate Ruiz was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Cougars.

Anthony Becerra was 2-for-2 for Rancho.

Cimarron-Memorial 11, Durango 1 — At Cimarron, Jeff Griffith was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to help the Spartans to a five-inning win over the Trailblazers.

Trevor Lippard was 1-for-1 with two RBIs for the Spartans, who scored six runs in the second to take control.

Larry Quaney, Tyler Giovinco and Osvaldo Escobar combined on a two-hitter for Cimarron.

Richard Mascarenas was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Durango.

Green Valley 15, Eldorado 0 — At Green Valley, the Gators scored 11 runs in the first inning and rolled to a five-inning win over the Sundevils.

Blake Inouye was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs in the inning to lead the way for Green Valley.

A.J. Amelburu went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Jarrett Perns was 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI for the Gators. Spencer Cofer added a double and two RBIs for Green Valley.

Christian Straub, Perns and Tyler Heiny combined on a two-hitter for the Gators.

Sierra Vista 11, Clark 0 — At Clark, Cade Burdett fired a four-hit shutout and had a double and three RBIs to pace the Mountain Lions in their five-inning win over the Chargers.

Kaven Alferaz doubled and drove in three runs, and Kaui Kaleopaa supplied two hits and two RBIs for Sierra Vista.

Faith Lutheran 11, Cheyenne 1 — At Faith Lutheran, Joshua Harmonay was 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Crusaders over the Desert Shields in five innings.

Brandon Davis went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Faith Lutheran. Zach Trageton fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to get the win.

Pahrump Valley 24, Mojave 20 — At Mojave, Dylan Ault was 6-for-7 with a triple and five RBIs, and the Trojans scored eight runs in the top of the seventh to top the Rattlers.

Parker Hart went 4-for-6 with three RBIs, and Carlos Rivera was 5-for-7 with two RBIs for Pahrump.

Otto Hernandez was 5-for-6 with a double and four runs for Mojave, which led 13-8 after four innings and 18-10 after five. Tyler Williams was 4-for-5 with five runs for the Rattlers, and teammate Elijah Glaze went 3-for-5 with a double.

Indian Springs 19, Mountain View 9 — At Indian Springs, Devon Sickler had two hits, three RBIs and two walks to lead the Thunderbirds past the Saints in five innings.

Daniel Highfield had a double and a single for Indian Springs, which scored 13 runs in the fourth inning.

Chase Ottofy was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Mountain View.

Spring Valley 7, Western 0 — At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies won by forfeit.
