BASEBALL: Pavlica, Patriots slip past Cougars
Preston Pavlica was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to help Liberty’s baseball team edge host Coronado 4-3 on Tuesday.
Josh McCollum was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run for the Patriots. Jay Martz added two hits and an RBI, and three pitchers combined on a three-hitter for Liberty.
Jackson Cofer had a run-scoring hit for Coronado.
Basic 15, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Mikey York threw a five-inning no-hitter and was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs to guide the Wolves to an easy win over the Dragons.
York finished with six strikeouts and one walk.
Skyler Mahoney and Tanner Roundy each supplied three hits for Basic, which used an 11-run second inning to pull away.
Mojave 6, Cheyenne 0 — At Mojave, Esteban Colin fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Rattlers over the Desert Shields.
Tyson Goodrich went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Colin added a double and an RBI, and Ryan Lawrence also doubled for Mojave.
Desert Oasis 11, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, Ryan Henderson lashed a bases-loaded triple in the top of the fifth to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 lead, and they tacked on six runs in the sixth en route to the win over the Bengals.
Dominic Paratore doubled twice and drove in two runs, and Tyler Kitrel supplied a double, a triple, and an RBI for Desert Oasis.
A.J. Landis went the distance, allowing seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk, to pick up the win.
Pahrump Valley 11, Clark 3 — At Pahrump Valley, Dylan Ault belted a two-run homer, and Josh Mortensen was 3-for-3 with three runs and five stolen bases to help the Trojans defeat the Chargers.
Chad Uyeno struck out six in five innings to earn the win and added three RBIs for Pahrump, which got three hits and two RBIs from Shelton Cajudoy.
Clark’s Brien Campbell went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Fernando Reza added two hits for the Chargers.
Foothill 16, Eldorado 2 — At Eldorado, Austin Wilson went 3-for-4 with a triple, a run and three RBIs, and the Falcons scored 11 runs in the top of the first en route to the five-inning win.
Alec Mathis was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Foothill. Bligh Madris, Ryan Moyes, Collin Dobrolecki and Nick Cardinale each added two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Falcons.
Cardinale went the distance, allowing one earned run on three hits, to get the win. He struck out 10 and walked four.
Bishop Gorman 12, Legacy 0 — At Gorman, Jack Little tossed a one-hitter and struck out seven as the Gaels routed the Longhorns in five innings.
Drew Newson was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Bronson Bowe went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Gorman, which scored eight runs in the third inning.
Faith Lutheran 14, Western 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Brandon Davis struck out nine in four perfect innings to help the Crusaders to a five-inning win over the Warriors.
Kyle Poser finished off a one-hitter for Faith Lutheran.
Chad Jones was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Thomas Beatty went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Crusaders.
Agassi Prep 9-14, Mountain View 6-8 — At Agassi Prep, Antonieyo City was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and provided 11 strikeouts on the hill as the Stars downed the Saints to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Mihith Narasinghe had two hits and four RBIs in the second game, and Brandon Lewis supplied two hits and three runs for Agassi Prep, which used a six-run fourth inning to pull away.
Ian Locke had three hits, and Noah Van Kempen and Nick Jenkins each added two hits to lead Mountain View.
Narasinghe struck out 13 and earned the win in the opener.
Ronald Harris had two hits, a run and two RBIs, and Brandon Lewis added two hits and two runs for Agassi Prep.
Locke was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk, and Travis Wallace and Ivaylo Iliev each had two hits to lead Mountain View.
