BASEBALL: Ray Ramirez’s late hit lifts Las Vegas
Ray Ramirez singled home the go-ahead run in the seventh inning Saturday, lifting Las Vegas High’s baseball team to a 6-4 win at Silverado.
Ramirez finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and teammate Nathan Freimuth also doubled.
Payton Ballard and Jake Johnson each had a double for the Skyhawks.
Liberty 2, Coronado 1 — At Coronado, Dawson Beard entered the game with the bases loaded and recorded the final out to preserve the Patriots’ win over the Cougars.
Liberty’s Jordan Moreno was 2-for-2 and had both RBIs and struck out 10 in 6⅔ innings.
Valley 8, Canyon Springs 1 — At Valley, David Trotta had a triple, double and four RBIs to back Jacob Cruz’s complete game in the Vikings’ win over the Pioneers.
Cruz allowed one run on five hits and struck out three. Trotta was 3-for-4.
Luis Osario-Avila was 2-for-3 for Canyon Springs, which led 1-0 through four innings.
Basic 12, Foothill 2 — At Foothill, Jack Wold was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and the Wolves scored 10 runs in the second inning on the way to a victory over the Falcons.
John Howard Bobo and Roger Riley each had two-run singles in the second, when Basic sent 14 batters to the plate.
Riley was 2-for-4, and teammate Paul Myro finished 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Andrew Hauck was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Anthony Pannullo was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run for Foothill.
Desert Oasis 8, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Brett Brocoff threw five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks over the Grizzlies.
Andrew Martinez had a triple and a double for Desert Oasis, Cole Schaefer had three RBIs and Jason Sharman doubled.
Nick Rupp went 2-for-4 for Spring Valley.
Chaparral 17, Calvary Chapel 7 — At Chaparral, Robert O’Connor went 3-for-4 with a triple to help the Cowboys beat the Lions in six innings.
Chaparral’s Erick Villarreal was 3-for-3 with a double, and Kalob Abramson hit a triple.
Pahrump Valley 10, Western 0 — At Reno, Cyle Havel threw a one-hitter with three strikeouts to guide the Trojans over the Warriors in five innings in the Baseball Brawl tournament.
Parker Hunt went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead Pahrump.
Western 6, Hug 5 — At Reno, the Warriors scored three runs in the sixth inning and turned back the Hawks’ rally at the Baseball Brawl.
Lincoln-San Francisco (Calif.) 8, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Reno, Willie Lucas threw a complete game, but the Trojans fell to the Mustangs in the Baseball Brawl.
Parker Hart went 1-for-1 with three walks for the Trojans.
