Class 4A Playoff picture is almost in full focus

One game is all that’s left to determine the full Class 4A postseason picture in Southern Nevada.
Eldorado and Chaparral’s baseball teams will have a play-in game Saturday at 11 a.m. at Las Vegas High with a spot in the Sunrise Region tournament on the line.
Thursday’s baseball, softball and boys volleyball action brought the postseason almost completely into focus.
Here’s a look at the seedings, matchups and in some cases, tiebreakers, for each sport.
The pairings and seedings are unofficial until any formal announcement by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association.
BASEBALL
Sunrise Region
The one question mark that remains is in this region, and Saturday’s play-in game will provide the answer.
Rancho (14-0) is the Northeast League’s No. 1 seed, followed by Las Vegas (12-2) and Valley (10-4).
The Eldorado-Chaparral winner will get the No. 4 seed.
In the Southeast, Green Valley (12-2) secured the No. 1 seed, followed by Foothill (11-3), Silverado (10-4) and Coronado (9-5).
The opening-round games, which will be played at host sites at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, are:
Eldorado or Chaparral at Green Valley
Valley at Foothill
Silverado at Las Vegas
Coronado at Rancho
Sunset Region
Spring Valley and Bonanza grabbed the final two spots in the Sunset Region by winning on Thursday.
In the Southwest, Bishop Gorman (16-0) is the No. 1 seed, followed by Sierra Vista (14-2), Bonanza (10-6) and Spring Valley (10-6).
Bonanza won a tiebreaker over Spring Valley. The teams split their regular-season matchups and defeated the same opponents the same number of times.
Under NIAA rules, the next tiebreaker favors the winner of the second meeting, giving Bonanza the No. 3 seed from the Southwest.
There were no ties in the Northwest with Legacy (15-1) winning the league outright, followed by Arbor View (13-3), Palo Verde (10-6) and Centennial (9-7).
The opening-round games, which will be played at host sites at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, are:
Spring Valley at Legacy
Bonanza at Arbor View
Palo Verde at Sierra Vista
Centennial at Gorman
SOFTBALL
Sunrise Region
Las Vegas and Green Valley each finished 13-1 in league play to earn league titles and No. 1 seeds outright.
But almost everything else needed a little work to figure out.
The Wildcats finished with a two-game cushion over second-place Valley (11-3). Rancho and Eldorado both finished 10-4, and Rancho won the tiebreaker to get the No. 3 seed.
The teams split their head-to-head meetings. Rancho’s win over Las Vegas gives the Rams the edge in the second tiebreaker, which is wins by beaten opponents.
It’s more complicated in the Southeast with Liberty, Basic and Foothill all finishing 9-5 and in a three-way tie for second behind Green Valley.
Liberty swept Basic and split with Foothill to get the nod in the three-way tiebreaker and the No. 2 seed.
Basic and Foothill were sent back to a two-way tie for third, which Basic won by virtue of its season sweep of the Falcons.
Tuesday’s opening-round games at Majestic Park are:
Foothill vs. Las Vegas
Rancho vs. Liberty
Basic vs. Valley
Eldorado vs. Green Valley
Sunset Region
A season of firsts for Legacy has the Longhorns making their postseason debut after winning their first league title. Legacy (14-2) is the Northwest’s No. 1 seed, followed by Palo Verde (13-3), Arbor View (11-5) and Centennial (10-6).
Durango (16-0) swept its way to the Southwest’s No. 1 seed, followed by Bonanza (13-3), Clark (12-4) and Desert Oasis (11-5).
Tuesday’s opening-round games at Majestic Park are:
Desert Oasis vs. Legacy
Arbor View vs. Bonanza
Clark vs. Palo Verde
Centennial vs. Durango
VOLLEYBALL
Sunrise Region
Coronado is the only team with a chance to finish the season with a perfect overall record, and it’s hard to pick against the Cougars (18-0 overall), who are the Southeast’s No. 1 seed after winning all 14 league matches.
Silverado (12-2) is the No. 2, with Del Sol winning a tiebreaker over Basic (both 8-6).
Del Sol and Basic split during the regular season and had the same beaten opponents. The next tiebreaker in volleyball is games won in head-to-head matches. Del Sol took four to Basic’s three.
In the Northeast, Las Vegas (14-0) is the No.1, followed by Rancho (12-2), Valley (10-4) and Desert Pines (8-6).
Tuesday’s quarterfinals at Las Vegas are:
Desert Pines vs. Coronado
Valley vs. Silverado
Del Sol vs. Rancho
Basic vs. Las Vegas
Sunset Region
Bonanza’s win over Bishop Gorman on Thursday lifted the Bengals (11-3) to the Southwest League’s top spot. Gorman (10-4) swept Spring Valley (10-4) to win a tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed. Spring Valley is the No. 3, followed by Clark (9-5), which beat Sierra Vista on Thursday to claim the final spot.
In the Northwest, Shadow Ridge (14-0) is the top seed, followed by Centennial (12-2), Palo Verde (10-4) and Arbor View (8-6).
Tuesday’s quarterfinals at Palo Verde are:
Clark vs. Shadow Ridge
Spring Valley vs. Centennial
