ROUNDUP: Avery, Falcons rally by Bengals

Zack Avery’s single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday plated pinch-runner Spencer Throgmorton with the winning run as Foothill’s baseball team rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to top visiting Bonanza, 4-3.

Tyler Van Stone drew a one-out walk and moved to second on Anthony Lopez’s ground out.

Throgmorton then ran for Avery, and after an intentional walk to Collin Dobrolecki, Avery singled to right to end the game.

Avery was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Dobrolecki went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and two RBIs for the Falcons, who trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the third inning.

Travis Ming was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Brett Doyle went 2-for-4 with a run for the Bengals.

Mojave 6, Chaparral 5 — At Mojave, the Rattlers took advantage of an RBI single by Tyler Ledgister and two errors to score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to nip the Cowboys.

Michael Confer tossed a four-hitter with nine strikeouts for Mojave.

Cory Tobin went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Andrew Ehrensaft was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Rattlers.

Chad Clark supplied two hits for Chaparral, which got a double from Beau De La Paz and a triple from Zach Harman.

Shadow Ridge 9, Western 0 —
 At Western, Travis Caskie and Cory Royer combined on a two-hitter as the Mustangs blanked the Warriors.

Caskie struck out eight in five innings.

Logan Hold went 2-for-4 with three runs, and Ben Fitzhugh had a double and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Daniel Carrillo was 1-for-3 with a double for Western.

Desert Oasis 7, Sierra Vista 6 — At Desert Oasis, Alex Tafesh went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Diamondbacks past the Mountain Lions.

Cole Crosby had a three-run double for Sierra Vista, which trailed 7-0 before scoring six runs in the sixth.

Canyon Springs 11, Sunrise Mountain 6 —
At Canyon Springs, Jordan Oates’ three-run double sparked a five-run sixth inning that helped the Pioneers top the Miners.

Deshawn Hawkins went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs for Canyon Springs.

Green Valley 11, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Blake Inouye was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and four RBIs, and Jarod Penniman was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI as the Gators topped the Dragons in six innings.

Christian Hall was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Green Valley.

Troy Cropper tossed a three-hitter to get the victory.

Faith Lutheran 21, Boulder City 3 — At Boulder City, Greg Sylvester was 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs, and the Crusaders scored 11 runs in the top of the seventh en route to the win.

Dakota Greenwalt had a home run and three RBIs, and Andrew Hudgins doubled twice for Faith Lutheran, which had 20 hits.

Liberty 13, Centennial 2 — At Centennial, Dan Skelly was 1-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, and the Patriots scored six runs in the top of the first inning on their way to a five-inning win over the Bulldogs in the Tom Coleman Classic.

Jesse Keiser and Griffin Kelly each went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Jay Martz was 2-for-4 for Liberty.

Legacy 20, Clark 4 —
At Legacy, Quinten Ewing went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and four runs to pace the Longhorns in a five-inning win over the Chargers.

Colton Malich finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Legacy, which got two doubles from Kyle Peeler.

The Meadows 13, Virgin Valley 4 — At Mountain View, Ian Holbrook was 2-for-3 with a run, and the Mustangs used a nine-run second inning to rout the Bulldogs in four innings in the Spring Slam.

Virgin Valley 11, Indian Springs 7 — At Mountain View, Junior Paongo was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and the Bulldogs used a nine-run second to top the Thunderbirds in the Spring Slam.

Dominic Smith was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Indian Springs.

Indian Springs 6, Mountain View 1 — At Mountain View, Hayden Frady tossed a four-inning two-hitter to lift the Thunderbirds over the Saints in the Spring Slam.

Indian Springs made the most of just two hits, including a double by Mason Hamlin.

Bishop’s School (Calif.) 15, Lake Mead 2 — At Mountain View, Bishop’s scored in all four innings on its way to a win over the Eagles in the Spring Slam.
