ROUNDUP: Burrola sparks Coronado at Lions Tournament

Julian Burrola went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs on Thursday to help Coronado to a 5-3 victory over Chaparral (Calif.) in the Lions Tournament at San Diego.

Miles Bice went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for the Cougars.

Silverado 10, Montgomery (Calif.) 1 — At San Diego, freshman Chase Cortez went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Skyhawks to the win in the Lions Tournament.

Freshman Mike Camburn was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and four Silverado pitchers combined to scatter nine hits.

Boulder City 7, Liberty (Ore.) 6 — At San Diego, Peyton Koopman singled home D.J. Koopman in the bottom of the ninth to give the Eagles the win in the Lions Tournament.

Tanner Howell was 3-for-5 with a double, a run and three RBIs for Boulder City, and D.J. Koopman was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.

Bill Barth threw four shutout innings of relief to get the win.

Rancho 9, Sunnyside (Ariz.) 5 — At Tucson, Ariz., Jose Verdugo was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Rams scored seven runs in the second inning to move into the championship game of the Cherry Field Classic.

Andrew Wieger went the distance to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Rams play Tucson at 3 p.m. Friday in the title game.

Bishop Gorman 18, Hillcrest (Utah) 6 — At Gorman, Kenny Meimerstorf went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs to power the Gaels to the six-inning win in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Nick Gates went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, and Michael Blasko was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Gorman.

Green Valley 6, Corona Del Sol (Ariz.) 3 — At Phoenix, Troy Cropper was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI to lead the Gators to the win in the third-place game in the Big League Dugout Invitational.

Keaton Smith went 2-for-4 with a run, and Christian Hall scored twice for Green Valley.

Four pitchers combined on a six-hitter for the Gators.

Brophy Prep (Ariz.) 17, Green Valley 3 —
At Phoenix, Brophy jumped on the Gators for five runs in the second to take conrol in the semifinals of the Big League Dugout Invitational.

Michael Hillcoat was 2-fr-2 with a solo homer for the Gators.
