ROUNDUP: Centennial rallies past Cimarron-Memorial for baseball win
Justin Gault singled home Austin Congleton in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Centennial’s baseball team an 8-7 home win over Cimarron-Memorial on Wednesday.
Gault’s hit capped a four-run rally in the seventh. All four runs came with two outs
Sam Friend was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, and teammate Robby Rosenthal was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Kaz Smith was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Spartans.
Bishop Gorman 5, Chatfield (Colo.) 3 — At Tucson, Ariz., Johnny Field hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Gaels the victory in the Cherry Field Classic.
Jeff Malm was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs for Gorman. Joey Rickard went the distance, allowing no earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts to get the win.
Green Valley 3, Liberty 2 — At Green Valley, Kyle Larimer singled off the first base bag with one out in the bottom of the eighth to bring home the winning run.
One-out singles by Evan Van Hoosier and Chad Whiteaker started the rally, and after a hit batter loaded the bases, Larimer singled home Van Hoosier to end the game.
Larimer finished 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.
Whiteaker was 3-for-4 and Van Hoosier 2-for-4 for the Gators.
Jandy Eiroa went 3-for-4 for the Patriots.
Legacy 8, Arbor View 5 — At Legacy, Joey Lauria pitched six innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win as the Longhorns defeated the Aggies.
Austin Christiansen was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Legacy, and teammate Pierce Skinner was 2-for-3 with a run.
Chris Manning was 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs for Arbor View.
Foothill 14, Silverado 13 — At Foothill, Kris Soto scored the tying run on a passed ball, and Kyle Moyes scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch as the Falcons rallied with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to nip the Skyhawks.
Soto and Jake Ferdinand each had a home run for Foothill, which used a nine-run second inning to take a 10-2 lead. Moyes and Mike Gibellina each had two hits for the Falcons.
Silverado stormed back to take a 12-11 lead in the fourth inning. Mike Meyers was 3-for-3 with a double for the Skyhawks, and teammate Morgan Stotts went 3-for-5 with a double.
Coronado 10, Del Sol 9 — At Del Sol, Steven Pollex was 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Cougars held off the Dragons.
R.J. Cash went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Coronado, which scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 10-6 lead.
Del Sol had runners at first and second with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but pitcher Cody Giordano induced a double-play grounder to end the game.
David Day was 3-for-4 with two runs for the Dragons, and teammate Matt Lemos went 3-for-4 with a home run.
Basic 11, Tech 9 — At Tech, Mike Feher was 3-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs to lead the Wolves over the Roadrunners.
Tech scored seven runs in the final three innings but didn’t complete the comeback.
Andy Chaves was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Basic, and teammate John Polin also hit a double.
Edward Weist was 3-for-5 with two runs for the Roadrunners.
Shadow Ridge 12, Cheyenne 8 — At Shadow Ridge, Troy Williams went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to help the Mustangs hold off the Desert Shields.
Brandon Show was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and teammate Allan Butler belted a home run for Shadow Ridge, which scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to open a 12-6 lead.
Jacob Hoff went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs for Cheyenne.
Palo Verde 22, Mojave 3 — At Mojave, Brandon Laubhan hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with six RBIs and four runs as the Panthers routed the Rattlers.
Christian Centrella had two doubles and a triple, and Brian Szepelak was 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs for Palo Verde.
Lake Mead 13, Henderson International 3 — At Lake Mead, Doug Johnson was 3-for-3 with a double and six RBIs to lead the Eagles to a six-inning rout of the Wolverines.
Johnson and Josh Bratton combined to pitch a two-hitter.
Spencer Kowis went 3-for-3 with a double and Junior Mora had two hits for Lake Mead.
