Roundup: Desert Oasis tops Gorman for Desert Classic title

Chaison Miklich drove in four runs, and Parker Schmidt went 3-for-4 on Saturday to lead the Desert Oasis baseball team to a 15-7 win over Bishop Gorman in the championship game of the Desert Classic.

Izzy Gutierrez had three RBIs, and Jason Sharman went 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, two RBIs and four runs for the Diamondbacks.

Cole Schaefer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run, and Steven Giatti and Jordan DeMarce each drove in two runs for Desert Oasis, which scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Connor O’Shea went 1-for-2 with three RBIs for Gorman.

Desert Oasis 2, Trinity (Fla.) 1 — At Gorman, Schmidt’s RBI double in the bottom of the ninth gave the Diamondbacks the win in the semifinals of the Desert Classic.

Schmidt went 3-for-5, and his infield single in the bottom of the seventh scored the tying run and forced extra innings.

Stephen Lasseigne pitched 2⅓ scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts to get the win.

Bishop Gorman 8, Liberty 4 — At Gorman, Christian Lamar was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs to lead the Gaels over the Patriots in the semifinals of the Desert Classic.

Ryan Sepede was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and John Gaughan was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Gorman. Dutch Landis added two hits and an RBI for the Gaels.

James Katona and Andrew Gallegos each doubled and drove in a run for Liberty.

Las Vegas 16, Valley 0 — At Valley, the Wildcats drew 10 walks, and pitchers Leonel Anaya and Payton Miller combined to no-hit the Vikings in three innings.

Daniel Jimenez was 1-for-3 with a double and four RBIs for Las Vegas.

Layne Adaro was 2-for-2 with three RBIs for the Wildcats.

Coronado 14, Green Valley 7 — At Coronado, Boston Mabeus hit a grand slam, and Cade Printy added a home run to help the Cougars take out the Gators.

Kyle Hall was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Coronado, and teammate Braeden Ewing had two RBIs.

Gavin Amelburu was 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and an RBI for Green Valley.

Centennial 14, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Austin Kryszczuk went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs to propel the Bulldogs to a five-inning win over the Longhorns.

Garrett Holden went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Centennial, and Zack Simon added a double and three RBIs.

Jacob Crawford doubled for Legacy.

Palo Verde 14, Arbor View 4 — At Arbor View, Tyler Kim doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs for the Panthers, who defeated the Aggies in five innings.

Jacob Godman went 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Palo Verde, and his twin brother, Jaret, pitched a complete game.

Austin Pfeifer homered for Arbor View.

Chaparral 17, Calvary Chapel 2 — At Chaparral, Rodney Elosegui went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to help the Cowboys beat the Lions in four innings.

Antonio Vara had two hits for Chaparral, and Cannon Greene was 2-for-2 with two runs.
