ROUNDUP: Error allows Rancho to slip past Desert Oasis

Zak Qualls scored on a throwing error with two outs in the top of the eighth to give Rancho a 6-5 road victory over Desert Oasis on Wednesday.

Qualls began the rally with a two-out double.

Brandon Pletsch tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to secure the victory. He came on with two on and one out in the sixth and got a key strikeout to get out of the jam.

He then got help from first baseman Scott Koenen to keep the Rams alive in the seventh.

With two outs and a runner on second, Desert Oasis hit a ball up the middle. The throw to first was in the dirt, but Koenen smothered it and threw the runner out at the plate from his knees.

Justin Pankratz had a home run for Rancho.

Joe Paratore hit a three-run homer for the Diamondbacks.

Silverado 10, Bonanza 9 — At Silverado, Wyatt Reid hit a double with no outs in the bottom of the seventh to score Michael Meyers as the Skyhawks edged the Bengals.

Mark Janosik earned the win in relief and added two doubles at the plate for Silverado, which got a triple from Meyers.

Trevor Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Hunter Welch supplied a double for the Skyhawks.

Ricky Williams was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI to lead Bonanza.

Mojave 20, Canyon Springs 9 — At Canyon Springs, Francisco Colin went 4-for-4 with a triple, two doubles and five RBIs as the Rattlers moved to 4-0 by beating the Pioneers in five innings.

Anthony Walker was 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, and winning pitcher Carlos Romo went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs for Mojave, which scored at least three runs in every inning.

Hector Burgara was 2-for-3 with a double for Canyon Springs.

Centennial 7, Basic 2 — At Basic, Bryan Bonnell went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and the Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning and cruised past the Wolves.

Ian Ogurek went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Chapman Schmidt had a home run and two RBIs for Centennial.

Sierra Vista 13, Foothill 8 — At Foothill, Scott Tomassetti was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Jake Findlay went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs to lead the Mountain Lions past the Falcons.

Gabriel Soto was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Dayton Kurian went 3-for-4 for Foothill.

Arbor View 15, Western 5 — At Arbor View, Evan McMahan went 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run and seven RBIs to help the Aggies cruise past the Warriors in five innings.

Tyler LeBaron was 2-for-3 with a double, a homer and three RBIs for Arbor View.

Jayson Hicks also homered for the Aggies.

Las Vegas 13, Cimarron-Memorial 3 — At Las Vegas, Jose Acosta was 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBIs to help the Wildcats to the five-inning win.

Dustin Cash had a home run and three RBIs, and Xavier Palmer homered and drove in three runs for the Wildcats.

Kevin Dorantes was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Spartans.
