Roundup: Gorman’s Camden Kay fires no-hitter
Camden Kay fired a no-hitter on Thursday to lead Bishop Gorman’s baseball team to a 7-0 road win over Bonanza.
Kay struck out six and walked none. He hit two batters, and one player reached on an error.
John Gaughan was 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs for the Gaels. Austin Wells went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Carson Wells was 2-for-3 with a run for Gorman.
Foothill 7, Silverado 0 — At Silverado, Andrew Hauck fired a two-hitter with 16 strikeouts and no walks as the Falcons blanked the Skyhawks.
Kelton Lachelt was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Vinny Vaccaro went 3-for-4 with a double and a run for Foothill.
Ric Vaccaro was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Falcons.
Green Valley 7, Las Vegas 6 — At Las Vegas High, Garrett Nelson retired the final two batters with the bases loaded as the Gators escaped with the win over the Wildcats.
Green Valley took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but Las Vegas plated six runs and had the bases loaded after Nelson gave up an RBI single to the first batter he faced.
But Nelson retired Nathan Freimuth on an infield fly ball to first base, and got Trevor Johnson to ground out to second to end the game.
Nelson was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Gavin Amelburu went 2-for-3 with a pair of homers and three RBIs for Green Valley.
Gavin Malcolm was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Scott Gruber drove in two runs for the Gators.
Payton Miller was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, and Daniel Jimenez had two hits for the Wildcats.
Palo Verde 3, Shadow Ridge 2 — At Palo Verde, Jacob Godman went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI to lead the Panthers past the Mustangs.
Peyton Cole went 2-for-3 with a RBI for the Panthers.
Jaret Godman struck out five and scattered six hits over six innings to pick up the win for the Panthers.
Brennen Lyman went 2-for-4 with a double, and Tyler Black went 1-for-3 with a RBI for the Mustangs.
Valley 6, Eldorado 4 — At Valley, Jovanni Donate went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run to lead the Vikings over the Sundevils.
Gatlin Hardiman allowed one earned run in 6⅓ innings to get the win. He allowed nine hits, struck out nine and walked four.
Gary Bricker struck out the final two batters with a runner at second to earn a save.
Derrik Buck was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Eldorado, and Jose Espejo added two hits for the Sundevils.
Tech 6, Desert Pines 5 — At Tech, pinch runner Aaron Shelton scored on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Roadrunners past the Jaguars.
Gabe Kermode went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI, Jose Leon went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Drew Cole doubled to lead the Roadrunners at the plate.
Jason Collingborne struck out three over the final two innings to pick up the win in relief.
Cesar Bailon hit a solo home run to lead the Jaguars.
Desert Oasis 11, Sierra Vista 0 — At Desert Oasis, Chaison Miklich went 1-for-2 with a grand slam and had five RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks past the Mountain Lions in six innings.
Cole Schaefer went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Zac Czerniawski doubled and drove in a run, and D.J. Jefferson doubled for the Diamondbacks.
Jefferson struck out five and allowed three hits over four shutout innings to pick up the win.
Cooper Kitrel doubled to lead the Mountain Lions.
Spring Valley 4, Clark 3 — At Spring Valley, Chase Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Chargers.
Braxton Bruschke went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, and Mitchell Otis was 2-for-4 with a double for the Grizzlies.
Chasyn Love allowed one run over three innings of relief to pick up the win.
Koby Cornejo and Elijah Fuchs each doubled for the Chargers.
Basic 16, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, Jesse Fonteboa was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run as the Wolves used a six-run fifth to close out the Pioneers in five innings.
Christian Rivero, Kyle Cazett and Dominik Tavares each supplied two hits for Basic.
Gavin Rhynes smacked a two-run homer to lead Canyon Springs.
Durango 11, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Justin Lucas went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Trailblazers past the Longhorns.
Irvin Weems went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Renae Lara doubled for the Trailblazers.
Daniel Hauben struck out 10 over six innings and allowed one hit to pick up the win.
Chaparral 19, Western 3 — At Western, the Cowboys plated 10 runs in the top of the fifth to pull away from the Warriors.
James Cobian was 4-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and three runs for Chaparral. Talon Greene was 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs, and Rodney Elosequi was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs for the Cowboys.
Mark Gastelum went 2-for-3 with a run for Western.
Laughlin 6-8, The Meadows 2-3 — At The Meadows, Tyrell Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the second game to help the Cougars sweep the Mustangs.
Tyreece Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Luaghlin, and Richard Coulston went the distance and struck out eight to get the win.
In the opener, Diego Trujillo went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Cougars over the Mustangs.
Trujilo also struck out seven in 6⅓ innings to get the win.
Boulder City 11, Cheyenne 1 — At Boulder City, Chareston Wagstaff allowed a run on one hit in four innings as the Eagles earned the five-inning victory over the Desert Shields.
