ROUNDUP: Green Valley walks off with win
Bobby Shiroky smacked a three-run walk-off home run to right-center with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to lift Green Valley’s baseball team to an 8-6 win over Vauxhall (Canada) at College of Southern Nevada.
The Gators, who led 4-0 after two innings, trailed 6-4 entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
Brett Harrison started the rally with a one-out single. After a strikeout, Evan Van Hoosier and Anthony Uran hit consecutive singles to make the score 6-5. Shiroky followed with his only hit of the game.
Uran was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley. Teammate Jordan Van Hoosier went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, an RBI and a run.
Sierra Vista 9, Vauxhall (Canada) 5 — At Sierra Vista, Brooks Klein went 2-for-2 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs to help the Mountain Lions down Vauxhall.
Scotty Tomassetti went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Mountain Lions, who erased an early 2-0 deficit and carried a 9-2 lead into the seventh inning.
Winning pitcher Jake Hager struck out seven in five innings.
Bishop Gorman 20, Desert Oasis 0 — At Cashman Field, Johnny Field had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and three RBIs as the Gaels routed Desert Oasis.
Joey Rickard and Jeff Malm also had three hits apiece for Gorman, with Rickard adding three RBIs.
The Gaels scored 11 runs in the third inning.
Las Vegas 11, Arbor View 1 — At Las Vegas, Dillon Dove tossed a six-hitter and collected a pair of hits to help the Wildcats breeze past the Aggies in five innings.
Tanner Chauncey and Robert Melendrez each added two hits for Las Vegas. Chauncey drove in three runs.
Las Vegas opened an 8-0 lead with a seven-run second inning.
Wooster 6, Centennial 2 — At Centennial, the Colts scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back en route to beating the Bulldogs.
Sam Friend was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Centennial.
Tanner Denham tossed a four-hitter for Wooster.
