ROUNDUP: Guzman’s perfect day at plate leads Warriors in rout of Miners
Matt Guzman went 5-for-5 with a triple, a double and two RBIs Friday as Western’s baseball team routed visiting Sunrise Mountain, 15-5.
Jesus Serrano and Daniel Buzzard each added a triple, and teammate Javier Ruiz hit 2-for-3 with four runs scored for the Warriors.
Bonanza 15, Palo Verde 2 — At Palo Verde, Eddie Orozco went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, and Bonanza scored seven runs in the fourth inning and six in the sixth to pull away from the Panthers.
Kris Bryant hit a grand slam in the sixth inning for the Bengals.
Mario Franzese was 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Bonanza.
Liberty 6, Eldorado 1 — At Liberty, Chris Bradford went 2-for-2 with a double to help the Patriots defeat the Sundevils.
Danny Topps and Kainan Pickle each went 2-for-4 to help Liberty, which scored three runs in the first inning.
Alan Guerrero, Ryan Jarzombek and Carlos Antuna each had two hits for Eldorado, which scored its lone run in the seventh.
Silverado 13, Las Vegas 4 — At Silverado, Mike Meyers was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs as the Skyhawks cruised past the Wildcats.
Drew Robinson went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Dylan Cross added two doubles for Silverado.
Clinton Mack batted 2-for-4, and Robert Melendrez hit a double for Las Vegas.
Coronado 14, Chaparral 4 — At Coronado, Trenton Gibson threw a four-hitter as the Cougars routed the Cowboys.
Jordan Scott batted 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Cody Giordano was 2-for-3 with and RBI and a run for Coronado.
Mark Faranda was 1-for-2 with two runs for Chaparral.
Arbor View 10, Desert Pines 0 — At Arbor View, Nick Urban tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Aggies blitzed Desert Pines.
Jordan Godman went 4-for-4 with two runs scored to help Arbor View, which collected 12 hits. Teammate P.J. Gonzalez went 2-for-2.
Cimarron-Memorial 13, Basic 3 — At Cimarron, James Carraway went 4-for-4 to help power the Spartans past the Wolves.
Vinnie Fresquez went 2-for-3 with four RBIs to help Cimarron, which put the game away with six runs in the fourth inning. Teammate A.J. Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a triple and four runs scored.
Nelson Kent went 2-for-3 with a triple to lead Basic.
Desert Oasis 13, Kalani (Hawaii) 8 — At Desert Oasis, Dillon Krasn went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs, and the Diamondbacks rebounded after giving up a 7-2 lead.
Josaiah Raval was 2-for-4 with a triple, a run and two RBIs for Desert Oasis, which allowed six runs in the top of the sixth and scored six in the bottom of the inning.
Green Valley 11, Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.) 2 — At CSN, Cameron Harper was 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs to lead the Gators to the win.
Gabe Douglas went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, and Brett Harrison was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley.
David Opperman pitched two hitless innings of relief with five strikeouts and no walks to get the win.
Boulder City 10, Parowan (Utah) 7 — At Boulder City, Ross LaMarca went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and four RBIs as the Eagles battled back from a 5-1 second-inning deficit to top Parowan.
Jack LaMarca was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Nate Hafen added a home run for Boulder City.
Calvary Chapel 11-8, West Wendover 3-12 — At Paul Meyer Park, Calvary Chapel’s Dillon Smith tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts in the opener as the Lions and Wolverines split a doubleheader.
Keaton Harris went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs for Calvary Chapel in the opener. Teammate Cody Messmore was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
In the second game, the Wolverines scored seven runs in the second inning and held on for the victory.
Luke Bilbao went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double for Calvary Chapel. Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double.
Henderson International 12, Mountain View 7 — At Mountain View, Logan Christie scattered six hits and struck out 10 in six innings to lead the Wolverines past the Saints at the Spring Slam.
Jay Sutorius scored three runs for Henderson International, and teammates Charles Pachas and Cole Fouch each hit a double.
Trevor Van Kempen went 2-for-3 and scored a run for Mountain View. Teammate Cortland LeBoeuf was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Beatty 27, Mountain View 8 — At Mountain View, the Hornets took advantage of 24 walks from Saints pitchers on the way to a win in two innings at the Spring Slam.
Ivan Maldonado and Jacob Carroll both walked and scored four times for Beatty, which had five hits.
The Hornets sent 27 batters to the plate and scored 22 runs in the second inning.
LeBoeuf went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Mountain View.
Battle Mountain 14, Beatty 0 — At Mountain View, the Hornets committed nine errors in a five-inning loss to the Longhorns at the Spring Slam.
Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 16, Henderson International 5 — At Mountain View, the Wolverines failed to climb out of a 6-0 deficit entering the second inning, and lost to the Royals at the Spring Slam.
Boomer Sherrill went 2-for-2 for Henderson International.
The Meadows 12, Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 10 — At Mountain View, the Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to break a 9-all tie and beat the Royals at the Spring Slam.
Brian Fahey went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs to lead The Meadows. Teammate Garrett Gosse drove in two runs.
