Roundup: Liberty rallies to beat Coronado
Kaeden Camat-Toki singled home pinch runner Joseph Rush in the top of the seventh inning to break a tie, and Liberty’s baseball team tacked on two more runs to defeat host Coronado 7-4 on Wednesday.
Andrew Gallegos was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run double in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie for the Patriots. Ethan O’Neal got the win in relief, and Ethan Safier supplied two hits and a run for Liberty.
Boston Mabeus had an RBI double, and teammate Joey Calvert added an RBI single to lead Coronado, which scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 4.
Basic 2, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Nick Thompson’s two-run single in the fifth inning lifted the Wolves to the win over the Falcons.
Thompson singled home Dominik Tavares and Logan Spaur. Jesse Fonteboa pitched five scoreless innings of relief to get the win. Tavares was 2-for-3 for Basic, which had four hits.
Foothill took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Chayse Parenteau.
Tech 6, Moapa Valley 5 — At Overton, Andre Nevarez scored the winning run in the top of the ninth on a throwing error, and the Roadrunners held on to squeak past the Pirates.
Winning pitcher Jose Leon went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Nevarez supplied two hits for Tech. Jason Collingbourne, Gabe Kermode and Sean Jones each hit a double for the Roadrunners.
Luke Bennett had two hits, two RBIs, and a run for Moapa Valley.
Rancho 7, Green Valley 3 — At Rancho, Edarian Williams went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs as the Rams beat the Gators.
The win clinched the Sunrise League title for the Rams, their first since 2010.
Anthony Guzman was 3-for-4 with a run, and Chayse baker added a solo homer for Rancho.
Joey Walls, Jimmy Gamboa and Kaleb Parker each added two hits for the Rams.
Gamboa allowed two earned runs on six hits in six innings to get the win. He struck out 12 with no walks.
Gavin Malcolm was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Green Valley, which got two hits from Colton Rambur.
Shadow Ridge 4, Faith Lutheran 3 — At Shadow Ridge, Kaden McDonald singled home Brennen Lyman in the bottom of the seventh to give the Mustangs the win over the Crusaders.
Faith Lutheran had scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead, but Shadow Ridge rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning on three walks and three singles.
Austin Cullor’s two-run single tied the game.
Lyman was 3-for-4, and Kristian Saldana went 2-for-4 for the Mustangs.
Shadow Ridge starter Tyler Knight allowed an unearned run on five hits in six innings.
Sagan Gronauer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Faith Lutheran.
Virgin Valley 9, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Cade Anderson threw four shutout innings and went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs to lead the Vikings over the Cowboys.
Anderson started and got the win, allowing three hits and striking out seven.
Kayden Peterson was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Easton Jensen and Joshua Abbott each added two hits for Virgin Valley.
James Cobian was 2-for-2 for Chaparral.
Pahrump Valley 5, Sierra Vista 2 — At Sierra Vista, Garrett Lucas threw six innings of one-hit ball with 10 strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs to help the Trojans beat the Mountain Lions.
Brian Horton and Cyle Havel each supplied two hits and an RBI, and Willie Lucas went 2-for-3 with a double for Pahrump.
Cooper Kitrel had a base hit and scored a run for Sierra Vista.
Boulder City 14, Del Sol 4 — At Boulder City, Teddy Lobkowicz was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs as the Eagles defeated the Dragons in five innings.
Chafton Temple was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Nolan Herr went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Boulder City.
Del Sol’s Tristan Vargas was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Canyon Springs 14, Valley 4 — At Valley, Gavin Rhynes went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Pioneers to victory over the Vikings.
Martin Blake was 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Caleb Andes went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Canyon Springs.
Trevor Berkemeyer added a triple, three runs and three RBIs for the Pioneers. He also threw four shutout innings of relief with four strikeouts to get the win.
Gustavo Donate went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Vikings.
Spring Valley 13, Eldorado 0 — At Spring Valley, Braxton Bruschke fired a two-hitter, and Mitchell Otis drove in seven runs as the Grizzlies routed the Sundevils in five innings.
Bruschke struck out 12 with no walks. Otis went 3-for-3 with a double and an inside-the-park home run.
Kade Higgins doubled and drove in two runs for Spring Valley.
Desert Pines 16, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Raymond Minero was 2-for-4 with a double, a homer four RBIs and two runs to help the Jaguars defeat the Desert Shields in five innings.
Salvador Becerra was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs and went the distance to pick up the victory. He allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one.
Juan Castaneda went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and James Greco was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Desert Pines.
Christopher Rose was 2-for-2 for Cheyenne.
