ROUNDUP: Lincoln County softball sweeps White Pine, secures No. 2 seed for 2A tourney

Melanie Florence smacked three home runs in an 8-for-8 effort Saturday as Lincoln County’s softball team secured the No. 2 seed for the Class 2A Southern League tournament with a 12-1, 13-1 sweep of White Pine in Panaca.
Florence and Tera Tibbitts each belted two home runs, and teammate K.C. Jensen pitched a six-inning no-hitter in the opening game.
Marissa Smerek added two doubles for the Lynx.
In the nightcap, Florence homered and drove in four runs, and Smerek added a home run to back the two-hit pitching of Kori Gloeckner.
Henderson International 10, Pahranagat Valley 0 — At Henderson International, Lee Harrison tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out seven as the Wolverines completed a 12-0 season in the Class 1A Southern League by routing the Panthers.
Pamela Sakuma went 3-for-3, and Kendall Short was 2-for-3 with a double for the Wolverines.
 
BASEBALL
Laughlin 8, Henderson International 3 — At Henderson International, Zach Sesulka went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to help the Cougars top the Wolverines.
Andre Prosise was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Laughlin, which scored a run in the fourth inning to break a 3-3 tie before Sesulka doubled home two runs in the fifth.
Charles Pachas hit a two-run home run in the third inning for Henderson International.
Lincoln County 11-18, White Pine 4-4 — At Panaca, the Lynx completed a sweep of the Bobcats.
