ROUNDUP: Spartans score two in ninth to edge Aggies
A.J. Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs, and Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth inning Friday to edge host Arbor View, 11-9.
Travis Hendry started the rally with a one-out double. The Spartans scored a run on an error, and the second came home on an RBI double by Tanner McAninch.
The Aggies led 6-1 after two innings before Cimarron began the comeback. The Spartans scored three times in the top of the seventh to force extra innings.
Kevin Dorantes was 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, two runs and three RBIs, and Hendry finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Reliever Cody Clark allowed a run on four hits in six innings to get the win. Clark struck out six and walked three.
Tyler LeBaron was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Brandon LaPointe was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Aggies.
Spring Valley 12, Bonanza 9 — At Spring Valley, the Grizzlies scored eight runs in the third and held off the Bengals.
Tyler Kartler was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead Spring Valley. Jose Rosales- Rodarte went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, and Robbie Brewster was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Spring Valley, which went up 10-2 after three innings.
Bonanzas’ Daniel Romero went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Travis Ming was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for the Bengals.
Las Vegas 9, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Las Vegas High, the Wildcats scored four runs in the sixth inning to secure a victory over the Miners.
Tanner Chauncey went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs to lead Las Vegas, and teammate Xavier Palmer homered.
Nick Snyder had a two-run single in the fourth inning for Sunrise Mountain.
Shadow Ridge 10, Cheyenne 2 — At Cheyenne, Josh Roelofs hit a two-run homer and earned a win in relief with eight strikeouts and one walk over four innings as the Mustangs topped the Desert Shields.
Troy Williams doubled twice and scored three runs, and Mitchell Shields went 3-for-4 for Shadow Ridge, which got two hits apiece from Logan Hold and Michael Wager.
Legacy 10, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Kyle Peeler and reliever Jay Torres combined on a one-hitter as the Longhorns blanked the Rattlers in six innings.
Alex Wenzel and Pierce Skinner each went 2-for-3 with a double for Legacy.
Peeler fanned seven with one walk in five innings to earn the win.
Sierra Vista 14, Western 1 — At Western, Scott Tomassetti was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Mountain Lions routed the Warriors in six innings.
Conner Klein went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Sierra Vista.
Ryan Garbowski was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Western.
Desert Oasis 11, Boulder City 10 — At Desert Oasis, Mike Maiello led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer to give the Diamondbacks the win over the Eagles.
Maiello finished 4-for-5 with a double, four runs and three RBIs.
Jossaiah Raval went 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Desert Oasis, which had 14 hits.
Green Valley 5, Galena 4 — At Green Valley, Alec Hutt hit a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh to score Evan Van Hoosier with the winning run as the Gators clipped the Grizzlies.
Van Hoosier, who went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI, reached on a leadoff walk and later stole third base before Hutt’s grounder found the hole between third base and shortstop.
Cody Milner was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Green Valley.
Bishop Manogue 13, Liberty 11 — At Liberty, the Miners scored nine runs in the final two innings to edge the Patriots.
Manogue scored six in the sixth to cut Liberty’s lead to 11-10, and the tying run came home on a passed ball in the seventh. M.J. Farthing then hit an RBI single to put the Miners on top.
Liberty loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with one out, but grounded into a double play to end the game.
Niles Lujan went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Miners, who had 16 hits.
Marcos Rivera was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs for Liberty.
Reno 12-8, Durango 1-1 — At Durango, the Huskies limited the Trailblazers to a total of seven hits in the sweep at the Blazer Classic.
Vinnie Koci threw a two-hitter in the first game for Reno.
Virgin Valley 11-10, Moapa Valley 7-4 — At Overton, Daniel Gleave threw a four-hitter with five strikeouts and went 2-for-4 in the nightcap to highlight a sweep for the Bulldogs.
Virgin Valley’s Tanner Tichenor earned the win on the mound and homered in the first game.
Kasen Hughes went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the opener for Moapa Valley.
Needles 9-12, Laughlin 1-0 — At Laughlin, Matt McAndrews had a double and a home run in each game to help the Mustangs sweep the Cougars.
McAndrews also threw a two-hitter in the second game to earn the win.
Ryan Andrews pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the first game for Needles.
Tonopah 11-10, Round Mountain 1-0 — At Tonopah, Emitt Davis smacked a pair of home runs in the opener and tossed a one-hitter in the nightcap as the Muckers swept the Knights in a pair of five-inning games
Davis was 3-for-3 with five RBIs in the first game.
In the second game, Davis struck out 11 and walked one, and teammate Taylor McLauchlin went 3-for-3.
Beatty 19-18, Spring Mountain 6-4 — At Mountain Ridge Park, Cedric Rankin was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and five RBIs in the opener and the Hornets went on to sweep the Eagles.
Jose Moreno was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Isaias Flores went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the first game for Beatty.
Starter Ricardo Pelayo allowed no earned runs on three hits in four innings to get the win. He struck out six and walked one.
Moreno went 4-for-5 with four runs and four RBIs for Beatty in the second game.
Ramon Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for the Hornets.
Ivan Maldonado allowed no earned runs on three hits in four innings to get the win. He struck out six and walked three.
Don DiMaggio had two hits, including a double, in the second game for Spring Mountain.
Mountain View 20-21, Agassi Prep 1-7 — At Mountain View, the Saints swept a doubleheader against the Stars.
Ivaylo Iliev went 4-for-6 with two walks and six runs scored on the day to lead Mountain View, which won the first game in three innings and the nightcap in four innings. Iliev also struck out eight to earn the victory in the first game.
Lincoln County 10-17, Calvary Chapel 0-4 — At Paul Meyer Park, Ryan Lloyd threw a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in the first game to help the Lynx sweep the Lions.
Alec Lloyd went 1-for-3 with a home run, three runs and five RBIs to lead Lincoln County in the second game.
Pahranagat Valley 24-12, Trinity 4-2 — At Alamo, Kade Wadsworth went a combined 5-for-10 with three runs and four RBIs in the two games, and pitched a six-inning one-hitter with 13 strikeouts in the nightcap to lead the Panthers to a sweep of the Thunder.
Pahranagat Valley’s Tyler Higbee fired a five-inning four-hitter with six strikeouts in the opener and was 4-for-8 with seven runs and three RBIs in the two games.
Damen Cook led Trinity with two hits on the day.
