ROUNDUP: Stewart’s early homer paves way for Foothill win

Jordan Stewart smacked a two-run home run in the top of the first inning Wednesday to give Foothill’s baseball team the lead and the Falcons held off host Basic, 9-6.
Kris Soto added a three-run homer in the top of the seventh to stretch the Falcons’ lead to 9-3 before Basic’s Andy Chaves responded with a three-run shot in the bottom of the inning.
Kyle Moyes was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Dylan Ellis went 2-for-4 with a double for the Falcons.
Chaves finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Wolves.
Coronado 20, Tech 1 — At Coronado, Cody Giordano hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs as the Cougars pounded Tech in five innings.
Cody Howard went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Coronado, which got two hits apiece from Brock Inouye, Steven Pollex, Alex Carrasco and Luke Zinn.
Silverado 10, Liberty 1— At Silverado, A.J. Ford went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBIs, and Bobby Johnson went 5-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to propel the Skyhawks to an easy win over the Patriots.
Jeremy Morski tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk for the Skyhawks, who led 7-0 after two innings.
Mike Meyers was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three runs for Silverado.
Green Valley 12, Del Sol 2 — At Green Valley, David Opperman went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and four RBIs, and the Gators scored nine runs in the bottom of the sixth to rout the Dragons.
Tariq Staton was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs, and Nolan Kohorst drove in two runs for Green Valley.
Cameron Harper threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.
Valley 15, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Valley, Levi Lawrence went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs as the Vikings downed the Miners in five innings.
Hansel Escamilla went 3-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs, and Eric Herring was 3-for-3 with a triple and two doubles for Valley, which led 13-0 after three innings.
Las Vegas 14, Canyon Springs 1 — At Las Vegas High, Tanner Chauncey doubled, tripled, homered, scored three runs and added three RBIs to lead the Wildcats in a rout of the Pioneers in five innings.
Robert Melendrez doubled twice and drove in two runs for Las Vegas.

Rancho 13, Desert Pines 3 —
At Rancho, Eddie Brandstadter was 3-for-4 with a run scored as the Rams downed Desert Pines in five innings.
Winning pitcher Josh Gomez supplied a double and three runs for the Rams.
Sierra Vista 19, Spring Valley 9 — At Sierra Vista, Jordan Cutolo went 4-for-5 with three runs and five RBIs as the Mountain Lions downed Spring Valley in six innings in the completion of a game that was suspended due to wind on April 28.
Jake Hager was 2-for-3 with a home run, four runs and five RBIs for Sierra Vista. Marquise Towers was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Nick Kingham was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Mountain Lions.
Tyler Kartler was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs for the Grizzlies. Aaron Blair was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Josh Schuster was 2-for-4 with a double for Spring Valley.
Henderson International 12, Mountain View 2 — At Henderson International, Keenan Gladd-Brown went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and threw a two-hitter to lead the Wolverines to the five-inning win.
Jay Sutorius was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Henderson International.
Beatty 11-9, Trinity 0-6 — At Beatty, Ricardo Pelayo only allowed one hit in four innings in the opener as the Hornets swept the Thunder, winning the first game in five innings.
Shayne Boots went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the first game for Beatty.
In the nightcap, Isaias Flores was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jose Moreno went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to complete the sweep for Beatty.
Trinity’s James Zaino went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI in the second game.
