BASKETBALL: Porter’s big second quarter helps Aggie boys top Liberty
Charles Porter scored 13 of his 20 points in the second quarter Saturday to help Arbor View’s boys basketball team to a 75-56 win over Liberty at South Point Arena.
The Aggies started the game with an 11-0 run, but Liberty trimmed the lead to 20-16 on an Ed O’Bannon basket with 5:54 to go in the second quarter.
But Porter answered with a 3-pointer, sparking a 15-2 run.
Terrell Butler added 18 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots for Arbor View. Justin Burks had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Aggies.
Elijah Graves paced the Patriots with 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists. O’Bannon added 12 points, and Noah Jefferson grabbed 11 rebounds for the Patriots.
The Meadows 68, Calvary Chapel 24 — At The Meadows, Eric Hirsberg had 19 points to help the Mustangs run away from the Lions.
Jake Epstein added 16 points for The Meadows.
Chris Basilio had six points for Calvary Chapel.
Agassi Prep 71, Mountain View 41 — At Mountain View, Deishuan Booker scored the first seven points of the game, and the Stars grabbed a 24-2 first-quarter lead on their way to a win over the Saints.
Booker finished with 22 points, and Stephan Laushaul added 10 points for Agassi Prep.
Connor LeBoeuf led Mountain View with 11 points.
GIRLS
The Meadows 47, Calvary Chapel 43 — At The Meadows, Delaney Gosse and Kaiya Massey each scored 10 points to help the Mustangs rally past the Lions.
Melaney Mayes and Bailey Gosse each added eight points for The Meadows, which trailed 23-19 at halftime.
Phallen Nelson led Calvary Chapel with 16 points, and teammate Lianne Reyes added 13 points.
Agassi Prep 41, Mountain View 35 — At Mountain View, Kataya Budd had 15 points to help the Stars hold off the Saints.
Ayanna McClendon added nine points for Agassi Prep, which led by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter before Mountain View trimmed the deficit to two points.
Kiley Murphy had 14 points, and Rose Adkins added 11 points for Mountain View.
