BOYS BASKETBALL: Crayon helps Eldorado draw past Las Vegas
Carl Crayon scored 17 points Tuesday as Eldorado’s boys basketball team stormed out to a 37-20 halftime lead before having to fight back for a 60-57 road win over Las Vegas.
Shane Barnes and Dyllan Kounovsky had 15 points apiece for Eldorado, which trailed 57-56 with 1 minute, 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Marquise Raybon led Las Vegas with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Dartanion Myers had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Donovan Joyner scored nine for the Wildcats, who trailed 22-6 after one quarter.
Cheyenne 64, Legacy 62 — At Legacy, Kavon Williams scored 25 points as the Desert Shields edged the Longhorns.
William Moore added 18 points for Cheyenne, which made 1 of 2 free throws late to extend the lead to two points.
Legacy had two final possessions with a chance to tie, but the Longhorns were unable to make a basket.
Timothy Jeffries led Legacy with 21 points, and teammate Chris White scored 13.
Desert Oasis 78, Sierra Vista 72 — At Sierra Vista, Aamondae Coleman tallied a game-high 27 points and Taiga Myano hit two key 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Diamondbacks hold off the Mountain Lions.
Myano finished with 11 points. Andrue Aguilera had 12 points, and Daron Fuglesten and Jacob Heese each scored 11 for Desert Oasis.
Chris McCoy had 23 points, and Maka Ellis scored 20 for Sierra Vista.
Rancho 76, Arbor View 62 — At Rancho, Lamont Traylor had 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rams past the Aggies.
Chrys Jackson added 23 points and five assists for Rancho, which led 37-22 at the half.
Cameron Trailer and Jesse Vogel each had 14 points to pace Arbor View.
Palo Verde 77, Chaparral 68 — At Palo Verde, Taylor Miller had 37 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals to power the Panthers by the Cowboys.
Logan McGhie had 11 points and six rebounds, and Christian Bryant added eight points and four steals for Palo Verde, which led 39-30 at halftime.
Samuel Porras led Chaparral with 22 points. Richard Nelson added 14 points, and Marc Silas scored 12 for the Cowboys, who went 8 of 22 from the free-throw line.
Faith Lutheran 76, Virgin Valley 58 — At Faith Lutheran, Zach Friel had 21 points as the Crusaders topped the Bulldogs.
Luke Bergen scored 16 points, and Blake Bell added 11 points and eight rebounds for Faith Lutheran, which also got 10 points and 10 rebounds from Elijah Kothe.
Zach Barnum had 25 points, and teammate Hogan Fowles added 15 points for Virgin Valley.
Sunrise Mountain 58, Pahrump Valley 40 — At Pahrump, Theodore Williams scored 14 points, and Alton Sanders and Tyri White each chipped in with nine points as the Miners topped the Trojans.
Rodney King added seven points for Sunrise Mountain, which led 33-15 at halftime.
Danny Foss had 12 points, and Bryce Odegard scored 11 for Pahrump.
Cimarron-Memorial 67, Basic 48 — At Cimarron, KeAnte Huddleston had seven points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots to help the Spartans by the Wolves.
Keiron Hatchett led all scorers with 12 points, and teammate Jeremiah Broussard had 11 points for Cimarron, which also got seven points and five assists from Demarco Morris.
Frank Harris led Basic with 10 points.
Spring Valley 58, Boulder City 41 — At Spring Valley, Ryan Frazier had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Grizzlies by the Eagles.
Joseph Johnson supplied 12 points and seven rebounds for Spring Valley.
Zach Murphy paced Boulder City with 13 points.
Durango 65, Green Valley 36 — At Durango, Chase Ruiz scored 22 points, and Michael Diggins supplied 13 points as the Trailblazers beat the Gators.
Zyare Ruffin pulled down nine rebounds for Durango.
Xavier Jarvis led Green Valley with 11 points.
Clark 71, Liberty 35 — At Liberty, Darius Jackson had 18 points to help the Chargers rout the Patriots.
James Bridges and Keyshaun Webb each added 14 points for Clark, which led only 27-20 at the half before pulling away.
Tyrone Marigney paced Liberty with 16 points.
Shadow Ridge 96, Moapa Valley 57 — At Overton, Jerell Springer scored 24 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Mustangs ran past the Pirates.
James Fuller had 17 points, Jamal Heidt scored 14 and Kyle Brown supplied 13 points for Shadow Ridge.
Jay Mortensen scored 25 points, and teammate Derek Cope added 11 points for Moapa Valley.
Word of Life 56, Quest Academy 24 — At the Durango YMCA, Jarrett Fisher had 13 points to lead the Eagles by the Knights.
Paul Kelker added 11 points for Word of Life, which led 38-18 at the half.
Chris Warren led Quest with 13 points.
Laughlin 43, Mohave Accelerated (Ariz.) 39 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., the Cougars nipped the Patriots.
