BOYS BASKETBALL: Hollis’ late 3 lifts Mountain Lions

Davion Hollis drained the game-winning 3-pointer with three seconds left in regulation Tuesday, giving Sierra Vista’s boys basketball team a 65-62 victory over host Spring Valley.

Maka Ellis had a game-high 29 points, and Jasper Cook scored 17 for the Mountain Lions. Hollis finished with six points.

Ryan Goecke led four players in double figures for Spring Valley with 16 points. Jalen Cannon had 14 points, Carl Albert scored 11 and Curtis Owens tallied 10 points for Spring Valley, which led 31-29 at halftime before the Mountain Lions went on a 22-12 run in the third quarter.

Canyon Springs 68, Rancho 56 — At Canyon Springs, Jordan Davis scored a game-high 25 points to help the Pioneers beat the Rams.

Channel Banks added 12 points, and Robert Fletcher and Maurice Hunter supplied eight points each for Canyon Springs, which sprinted to a 47-23 halftime lead.

Ryan Hafen led Rancho with 18 points, and teammate Chrys Jackson added 10 points.

Palo Verde 72, Legacy 47 — At Legacy, Grant Dressler poured in 24 points, and the Panthers made nine 3-pointers to defeat the Longhorns.

Ja Morgan added 20 points for Palo Verde.

Brody Olenslager led Legacy with 18 points.

Durango 70, Shadow Ridge 44 — At Durango, Apollo Corley had 20 points and nine rebounds, and Michael Diggins added 15 points to power the Trailblazers past the Mustangs.

Durango’s Victor Ross supplied 13 points and nine rebounds, and teammate Danny Tarkanian scored 10. Chase Ruiz contributed nine points, 14 rebounds and five assists for the Trailblazers, who opened the game on a 19-6 run.

Jerell Springer and Preston Echols each scored 16 points to lead Shadow Ridge.

Virgin Valley 62, Sunrise Mountain 57 — At Sunrise Mountain, Marcus Saunders scored 15 points, and Zach Barnum added 12 points as the Bulldogs held on to down the Miners.

Cody Burnside had 11 points, and Cody Jones notched 10 points for Virgin Valley, which used a 17-7 first-quarter burst to its advantage.

Damon Heard finished with 22 points to lead Sunrise Mountain, and teammate Trellis Quinn scored 21.

Desert Pines 68, Del Sol 56 — At Del Sol, Trevon Abdullah scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Jaguars past the Dragons.

Capri Uzan added 17 points for Desert Pines, which trailed 15-14 after one quarter but outscored Del Sol 45-25 over the middle two periods.

Brian Greer scored 15 points for Del Sol, which also got 13 points from JonRoss Juhas and 10 points from Rashaun Lawson.

Cheyenne 64, Pahrump Valley 50 — At Pahrump, Bruce Gaitor led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Desert Shields beat the Trojans.

Alahjan Banks had 11 points, Joseph Rose had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Ulises Santillan had 10 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals for Cheyenne.

Daniel Foss paced Pahrump Valley with 17 points.

Chaparral 75, Tech 36 — At Chaparral, Samuel Porras scored 17 points, and the Cowboys opened the game on a 29-5 run en route to a win over the Roadrunners.

Marc Silas and Richard Nelson each had 11 points for Chaparral, which had 13 players score.

Sir-Isaak Singleton and Elijah Wesley each scored 10 points to lead Tech.

Faith Lutheran 66, Western 38 — At Faith Lutheran, Blake Bell and Bryce Neagle each scored 11 points as the Crusaders coasted past the Warriors.

Zach Friel had nine points, and John Molchon scored eight for Faith Lutheran, which held Western to two points in the second quarter and led 44-13 at halftime.

Kwan Carter had 12 points and Wyatt Rozea scored 11 for Western.

Mountain View 46, Needles 42 — At Needles, Calif., Connor LeBoeuf scored 16 points, and Christian Bennett added 15 points to lead the Saints past the Mustangs.

Mountain View outscored Needles 18-3 in the third quarter, as Bennett hit four of his five 3-pointers. The Saints had 10 3-pointers in the game.

Derek Wagstaff scored 11 points for the Mustangs.

The Meadows 64, Calvary Chapel 55 — At Calvary Chapel, Jake Epstein had 22 points, and Max Hisatake added 20 points as the Mustangs topped the Lions.

Ethan Fridman notched 18 points for The Meadows, which outscored Calvary Chapel 16-5 in the second quarter to take an 11-point lead at halftime.

Matthew Harney led the Lions with 21 points. Killian Diers had 13 points, and Riley Clark scored 11 for Calvary Chapel.

Spring Mountain 65, Indian Springs 18 — At Indian Springs, Greg Smith poured in 21 points to lead the Golden Eagles by the Thunderbirds.

David Smith added 15 points, and Johntryae Mitchell scored 11 for Spring Mountain.

Word of Life 62, Beatty 32 — At Durango Hills YMCA, Trent McCall drained six 3-pointers and had 24 points as the Eagles downed the Hornets.

Jarrett Fisher added 12 points, and Malik Moore and Caleb Moore each had 10 points for Word of Life.

Enterprise (Utah) 72, Lincoln County 37 — At Enterprise, Utah, the Lynx lost to the Wolves as Isaac Wallin scored 27 points for the hosts.

Agassi Prep 77, Laughlin 36 — At Laughlin, the Stars routed the Cougars.
