BOYS BASKETBALL: Jarvis, Gators edge Eldorado in overtime
Xavier Jarvis scored five of his 39 points in overtime to lift Green Valley’s boys basketball team to an 82-80 home win over Eldorado on Tuesday.
Matthew Tuttle had 15 points and nine assists, and Canyon Lewis added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Green Valley, which trailed 46-42 after three quarters. Green Valley now is alone in second place in the Southeast League at 4-1. Eldorado fell to 3-2.
Shane Barnes led the Sundevils with 34 points. Carl Crayon had 15 points, and Carmonte Jones scored 13 for Eldorado, which got 11 points from Dyllan Kounovsky.
Liberty 54, Valley 50 — At Valley, Kyle Thaxton scored 13 points, including a stick-back layup off a missed free throw with five seconds left, to lift the Patriots over the Vikings.
Kahlil DeRouen had 14 points to lead Liberty. Cameron Burist and Tyrone Marigney each scored eight for the Patriots.
Roell King led Valley with 18 points, and Zach Nichols had 11 points for the Vikings.
Desert Oasis 69, Arbor View 61 — At Desert Oasis, Taiga Miyano scored 22 points and the Diamondbacks made seven 3-pointers en route to the win over the Aggies.
Aamondae Coleman supplied 14 points and 12 rebounds for Desert Oasis, and Drevin Cannon and Jacob Heese each scored 10 for the Diamondbacks.
Jarrod Burks scored 20 points to lead Arbor View. Jesse Vogel had 14 points for the Aggies, who got 13 points from Favor Chukwukelu.
Coronado 74, Rancho 61 — At Rancho, Kennedy Koehler scored 26 points to help the Cougars down the Rams.
Bryce Savoy added 17 points, and Jake DesJardins scored 15 for Coronado, which led 42-31 at halftime.
Coronado helped itself by shooting 26-for-30 from the free-throw line.
Rancho’s Jahleel Stevens had 20 points, and Chrys Jackson scored 19 for the Rams.
Las Vegas 58, Canyon Springs 47 — At Las Vegas, Donovan Joyner led three double-figure scorers with 17 points as the Wildcats topped the Pioneers.
Ronald Daniels had 14 points, and Dartanion Myers added 12 points for Las Vegas, which led 28-20 at halftime.
Kevin Legardy had nine points for Canyon Springs.
Centennial 65, Cimarron-Memorial 48 — At Centennial, Jake Hutchings scored 17 points to help the Bulldogs beat the Spartans.
Troy Brown added 14 points, and Isaiah Banks scored 11 for Centennial, which stormed out to a 35-19 halftime lead.
Jeremiah Broussard and Elijah Coleman each scored 11 for Cimarron.
Foothill 68, Basic 47 — At Foothill, Jace Roquemore scored 13 points as the Falcons posted an easy win over the Wolves.
Jeron Bodin added 11 points for Foothill, which raced to a 47-23 halftime lead.
Frank Harris had eight points for Basic.
Mountain View 47, Agassi Prep 43 — At Agassi Prep, Tevin Gray scored 16 points and sank two free throws with 30 seconds left to help lift the Saints over the Stars.
Christian Bennett had 13 points for Mountain View, which led 26-11 at halftime.
Daniel Plummer led Agassi Prep with 20 points.
Calvary Chapel 80, Beatty 38 — At Calvary Chapel, Cameron Varela scored 15 points to help the Lions rout the Hornets.
James Gentile added 11 points for Calvary Chapel, which led 47-20 at the half.
Robert Revert paced Beatty with 12 points, and Bryan Ortiz-Villalba added 11 points for the Hornets.
Needles 53, Lake Mead 36 — At Needles, Trenton Poe-Evans and Derek Wagstaff each scored 11 points to help the Mustangs to victory over the Eagles.
Needles led 24-7 at the half.
Shay Rutledge had a game-high 17 points to lead Lake Mead.
Word of Life 54, Pahranagat Valley 52 — At Meadows YMCA, Trent McCall scored 20 points as the Eagles rallied to top the Panthers in a battle of the top two teams in the Division IV Southern League.
Paul Kelker added 14 points for Word of Life, which trailed 17-4 after one quarter. Elijah Hoye added 12 points for the Eagles, who led by five before a late 3-pointer by Pahranagat Valley.
Word of Life, which improved to 6-0 in the league, was able to inbound the ball and run out the clock.
Jacob Roemer led Pahranagaat Valley with 12 points. Shawn Wadsworth and Christian Higbee each scored 10 for the Panthers, who fell to 4-2 in league.
Sandy Valley 53, Indian Springs 43 — At Sandy Valley, Logan Shelton had 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals to lead the Sidewinders over the Thunderbirds.
Nick Dresden added 12 points for Sandy Valley, and teammate Wyatt Robinson had 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Nino Alvarez paced Indian Springs with 17 points. Sebastian Smith scored 11 for the Thunderbirds, who trailed 24-23 at the half. The Sidewinders outscored Indian Springs 20-8 in the third quarter to take control.
Adelson School 71, Round Mountain 34 — At Round Mountain, the Lions routed the Knights.
