BOYS BASKETBALL: Jonathan Tendale leads Chaparral to overtime win
Jonathan Tendale scored eight of Chaparral’s 14 points in overtime to lead the Cowboys’ boys basketball team to a 71-66 road victory over Virgin Valley on Friday.
Tendale finished with 24 points.
Marcus Hilliard had 13 points, and Samuel Porras scored 12 points for the Cowboys.
Virgin Valley’s Andrew Memmott had 23 points, and Hogan Fowles scored 20 for the Bulldogs.
Sierra Vista 67, Rancho 64 — At Rancho, Maka Ellis hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Mountian Lions the win over the Rams.
Ellis had 25 points, and Chris McCoy scored 21 for Sierra Vista. Maui SeraJosef added 13 points for the Mountain Lions.
Rancho’s Justin Holiday led all scorers with 36 points.
Tech 61, Boulder City 56 — At Tech, Miguel Pena scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Roadrunners held off the Eagles.
Jurelle Orbino had 14 points, and Tyler Muwwakkil scored nine for Tech, which led 41-40 after three quarters.
Justus Green led Boulder City with 17 points, and teammate Carson Balistere scored 14.
Bishop Gorman 100, Durango 75 — At Gorman, Jamal Bey had 30 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and the Gaels hit 13 3-pointers en route to a dominating victory over the Trailblazers.
Chuck O’Bannon added 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Christian Popoola had five points and 10 assists for Gorman, which led 49-31 at halftime.
Zyare Ruffin led Durango with 20 points. Demetrius Valdez had 15 points, and Anthony Hunter notched 14 points for the Trailblazers, who got 12 points from Nicquel Blake.
Findlay Prep 99, First Love Christian (Pa.) 78 — At Wheeling, West Virginia, Lamine Diane led five double-figure scorers with 20 points as the Pilots downed the Knights in the Cancer Research Classic.
Justin Roberts added 19 points for Findlay Prep, which led 51-42 at the half. P.J. Washington and Chris Giles each scored 16 points, and Jack Schweitz added 11 points for Findlay Prep.
David Collins led First Love Christian with 31 points.
Canyon Springs 78, Eldorado 43 — At Eldorado, Kevin Legardy had 18 points as the Pioneers rolled past the Sundevils.
Michael Washington added 11 points, and Tereke Robertson scored 10 for Canyon Springs, which outscored Eldorado 30-15 in the second quarter.
Jordan Carter led Eldorado with 11 points, and teammate Dexter Davis scored 10.
Del Sol 67, Moapa Valley 49 — At Del Sol, Jonathan Spearman had 22 points and 10 rebounds to power the Dragons past the Pirates.
Nati Asfaw added 11 points for Del Sol, which led 28-13 after the first quarter.
Dalyn Leavitt and Tyler Peterson each scored 11 points for Moapa Valley.
Desert Oasis 65, Bonanza 50 — At Bonanza, Jacob Heese led all scorers with 28 points as the Diamondbacks defeated the Bengals.
Desert Oasis’ Nate Van finished with 10 points.
Bonanza’s Brandon Noone and Chase Hafen each scored 14 points.
Clark 73, Spring Valley 34 — At Spring Valley, James Bridges scored 17 to lead the Chargers in a rout of the Grizzlies.
Trey Woodbury added 12 points for Clark, and which got 11 points from Deshawn Wilson.
Jeremiah Teems-Robinson and Ryan Frazier each had eight points to lead the Grizzlies.
Las Vegas 59, Valley 36 — At Valley, Marquise Raybon scored 16 points as the Wildcats defeated the Vikings.
Las Vegas’ Donovan Joyner added 15 points, and teammate Deondre Northey scored 11.
Tommy Anderson led the Vikings with seven points.
Agassi Prep 57, The Meadows 55 — At Agassi Prep, Najeeb Muhammad scored 17 points as the Stars edged the Mustangs.
Allen Merritt had 12 points for Agassi Prep, and Miles Mixon scored 10 for the Stars.
Jake Epstein led all scorers with 30 points for The Meadows, and teammate Asheesh Chopra had 10 points.
Laughlin 67, Mountain View 52 — At Mountain View, Jermarion Hickman poured in 38 points to lead the Cougars over the Saints.
Laughlin’s Corey Anderson scored 11 points, and teammate Coda Abatti had 10 points.
Tyrell Brooks had 21 points to lead Mountain View, and twin brother Terrence Brooks scored 18.
Needles 49, Lincoln County 35 — At Needles, California, Trey Tsosie had 16 points and seven rebounds in the Mustangs’ win over the Lynx.
Gillman Jenkins added six points and 10 rebounds for Needles, which led 21-10 at halftime.
Justin Barton had 11 points to lead Lincoln County.
Pahranagat Valley 50, Indian Springs 21 — At Indian Springs, Tabor Maxwell and Culen Highbe each scored 11 points as the Panthers defeated the Thunderbirds.
Dallin Davis led Indian Springs with 10 points.
Round Mountain 68, Beaver Dam 33 — At Round Mountain, the Knights routed the Diamondbacks.
