BOYS BASKETBALL: Sierra Vista rallies to top Cabrillo

Sierra Vista’s Mohamed Washington hit a 3-pointer to give the Mountain Lions the lead, then had a key offensive rebound with 11 seconds to play as they topped Cabrillo (California) 68-65 in the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational in Rancho Mirage, California on Wednesday.

Washington’s 3-pointer gave Sierra Vista a two-point lead. After Cabrillo cut the lead to one, Washington got an offensive rebound and called timeout. The Mountain Lions inbounded and scored for the final margin.

Maka Ellis had 32 points and 14 rebounds to lead Sierra Vista. Chris McCoy added 18 points for the Mountain Lions, who outscored the Conquistadores 23-13 in the fourth quarter.

Leandrew Knight led Cabrillo with 21 points, and teammate Jordan Tyler scored 20.

Foothill 61, Patrick Henry (Calif.) 56 — At Palm Desert, California, Mauricio Smith had 22 points to lead the Falcons over the Patriots in the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Marvin Coleman added 10 points and 11 assists for Foothill, which moved into the semifinals of the Nike Bracket.

Sam Galaif led Patrick Henry with 14 points.

Canyon Springs 78, Indio (Calif.) 49 — At Indio, California, Elbert Bibbs had 15 points as the Pioneers rolled past the Rajahs in the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Christopher Hawkins added 10 points for Canyon Springs, which led 23-9 after one quarter.

Jeremiah Brown led Indio with 19 points.

Desert Pines 57, Foss (Wash.) 53 — At Rancho Mirage, California, Capri Uzan had 32 points, four rebounds and four assists as the Jaguars beat the Falcons in the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Uzan was 7-for-13 on 3-pointers.

Trevon Abdullah-Booker added 12 points and seven rebounds, Derrick Coleman had 10 points, and Jordan Simon had nine rebounds for Desert Pines.

Berto Gittens led Foss with 17 points.

Los Osos (Calif.) 80, Faith Lutheran 76 — At Palm Desert, California, Shane Johnson poured in 32 points to power the Grizzlies over the Crusaders in the Rancho Mirage Holiday Invitational.

Nic Maccioni led Faith Lutheran with 30 points. Connor Nichols added 19 points, Elijah Kothe had 12 points and Brevin Walter scored 10 for the Crusaders.

Imhotep Charter (Pa.) 72, Bishop Gorman 54 — At Myrtle Beach, S.C., Daron Russell had 25 points, six steals and four assists to help the Panthers pull away from the Gaels in the quarterfinals of the Beach Ball Classic.

Dave Beatty added 17 points for Imhotep, which led 29-28 at the half. Koby Thomas had 12 points, including back-to-back dunks in the second half, for the Panthers, who outrebounded Gorman 47-23.

Jamal Bey led Gorman with 18 points. Chuck O’Bannon added 13 points for the Gaels, who were just 17-for-54 (31.5 percent) from the field.

Clark 54, Sheridan (Wyo.) 37 — At Gillette, Wyoming, James Bridges had 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead the Chargers over the Broncs in the opening round of the Gillette Energy Classic.

Ian Alexander scored a game-high 13 points for Clark, which led 19-7 after one quarter. Trey Woodbury added 12 points for the Chargers.

Campbell County (Wyo.) 69, Liberty 60 — At Gillette, Wyoming, Trey Hladky scored 26 points to lead the Camels over the Patriots in the Gillette Energy Classic.

Dyllan Robinson had 21 points to lead Liberty, and teammate Cameron Burist scored 14.

Cimarron-Memorial 79, Horizon Christian (Calif.) 71 — At Solana Beach, California, Demarco Alexander had 37 points and seven rebounds as the Spartans earned the victory over the Panthers in the UnderArmour Holiday Classic.

Keiron Hatchett added 11 points, and Brian Washington had eight points and 12 rebounds for Cimarron, which advanced to the semifinals of the Seantors Division.

D.J. Wilson led Horizon with 35 points.

Boulder City 58, Valley View (Calif.) 55 — At Menifee, California, Karson Bailey scored eight of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to help Boulder City to the victory in the Paloma Valley Winter Shootout.

Carson Balistere added 10 points, and Thomas Lobkowitz had 11 rebounds for Boulder City, which outscored Valley View 22-14 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Zack Dowds led Valley View with 21 points.

Del Sol 37, Bolsa Grande (Calif.) 25 — At Costa Mesa, California, Jonathan Spearman had 12 points to lead the Dragons over the Matadors in the Estancia Coast Classic.

Michael Pham paced Bolsa Grande with 10 points.
