BOYS BASKETBALL: Trier leads Pilots to win in Mike Miller Classic
Allonzo Trier scored 22 points Monday to lead Findlay Prep’s boys basketball team to a 77-52 win over Lincoln (S.D.) in the Mike Miller Classic in Mitchell, S.D.
Derryck Thornton added 18 points for the Pilots, who pulled away after leading 38-30 at halftime.
Justin Jackson scored 16 points, and Horace Spencer had 10 points for Findlay Prep.
Kaleb Johnson had 16 points to lead Lincoln, which made just 15 of 68 shots from the field.
Foothill 72, Brea Olinda (Calif.) 53 — At Palm Springs, Calif., Te’Vion Reed led a balanced attack with 10 points as the Falcons downed Brea Olinda in the Maxpreps Holiday Classic.
Torrance Littles added nine points and seven rebounds for Foothill, which never looked back after taking a 16-6 first-quarter lead.
Colin Greenwood had 19 points for Brea Olinda.
Desert Oasis 69, Westwood (Ariz.) 47 — At Prescott Valley, Ariz., Andrue Aguilera scored 15 points, and Taiga Miyano added 14 points as the Diamondbacks advanced to the quarterfinals of the Alvarez Tire Holiday Hoops Classic by beating Westwood.
Drevin Cannon added 11 points for Desert Oasis.
Logan Johnson led Westwood with 13 points.
Desert Oasis 52, Bradshaw Mountain (Ariz.) 44 — At Prescott Valley, Ariz., Aamondae Coleman scored 17 points to help the Diamondbacks beat Bradshaw Mountain in the Alvarez Tire Holiday Hoops Classic.
Aguilera added 10 points for Desert Oasis, which trailed 10-9 after one quarter but rallied with an 18-8 second-quarter run.
Gilbert Ibarra scored 21 points for Bradshaw Mountain.
Del Sol 59, Rowland (Calif.) 55 — At La Puente, Calif., Noah Spearman had 18 points and 13 rebounds to help the Dragons hold off the Raiders in the Nogales Christmas Classic.
Brian Greer added 16 points, and Ganny Belloni had 14 points for Del Sol, which led 31-17 at the half. Rashaun Lawson had 11 assists for the Dragons.
Tyler Gachett led Rowland with 19 points.
Bishop Gorman 78, Shadow Mountain (Ariz.) 60 — At Myrtle Beach, S.C., Stephen Zimmerman had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Chase Jeter had 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Gaels downed the Matadors in the Beach Ball Classic.
Richie Thornton had 10 points and eight assists for Gorman.
Craig Randall had 25 points for Shadow Mountain.
Mountain View (Ariz) 78, Canyon Springs 59 — At Mesa, Ariz., Tommy Kuhse scored 25 points to lead Mountain View to a rout of the Pioneers in the VisitMesa.com Challenge.
Jordan Davis scored 19 points, and D’Quan Crockett had 13 points for Canyon Springs.
Tustin (Calif.) 63, Centennial 53 — At Tustin, Calif., George Wilson and T.J. Shorts each had 20 points to lead the Tillers by the Bulldogs in the semifinals of the Estancia/Tustin Classic.
Darrian Traylor had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Centennial, which led 28-24 at the half. Roy Sparks and Isaiah Banks each had 11 points, and Troy Brown added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Canyon Springs (Calif) 49, Boulder City 32 — At Menifee, Calif., Franky McQuay had 14 points, and Arturo Moran scored 12 as Canyon Springs beat the Eagles in the Paloma Valley Winter Shootout.
Tristan Sullivan added 11 points for Canyon Springs.
Peyton Koopman led Boulder City with 11 points.
Capital Christian (Calif.) 64, Green Valley 53 — At Palm Springs, Calif., Capital Christian held off the Gators in the Maxpreps Holiday Classic.
Kelvin Omojola had 10 points and six assists, and Xavier Jarvis added nine points, five rebounds and three assists for Green Valley, which tried to rally from a 33-14 halftime deficit.
Cedar (Utah) 57, Arbor View 46 — At Cedar City, Utah, Keenan Nielson scored 21 as Cedar beat the Aggies in the Steve Hodson Classic.
