BOYS BASKETBALL: Wildcats pound Patriots, move into second-place tie
Marquise Rayborn scored 18 points Thursday, and Las Vegas’ boys basketball team routed Liberty 67-50 to move into a tie for second place in the Northeast League.
Dartanion Myers added 13 points for Las Vegas, which led 46-32 at the end of three quarters after holding a seven-point halftime advantage.
Kyle Thaxton scored 14 points to lead the Patriots.
Silverado 60, Valley 38 — At Valley, Kris Coe scored 11 of his 19 points in the third quarter to help the Skyhawks top the Vikings.
Silverado led 17-15 at the half, but outscored Valley 25-13 in the third quarter.
Errol Newman added 11 points, and Matthew Arnold and Tyric Johnson each scored 10 for Silverado.
Zach Nichols led Valley with 14 points, and teammate John King scored 10.
Eldorado 76, Basic 75 — At Eldorado, Dereonte Allen made a putback layup at the overtime buzzer to lift the Sundevils over the Wolves.
Basic went up by five points early in the overtime period before two free throws by Eldorado’s Shane Barnes and a basket by Dyllan Kounovsky.
Carl Crayon led the Sundevils with 21 points, Barnes had 20 points and Kounovsky scored 13 for Eldorado.
Deondre Ishman led five double-digit scorers with 14 points for Basic, followed by teammates Matthew Esplin (13), Christopher Dominguez (12), Frank Harris (12), and Tyrone Myers (10).
Foothill 56, Rancho 43 — At Rancho, Jace Roquemore led a balanced attack with 13 points as the Falcons topped the Rams.
Devon Erb scored 12 points, and Mauricio Smith added 10 points for Foothill, which led 34-21 at the half.
Chrys Jackson paced Rancho with 21 points.
Centennial 73, Bonanza 42 — At Centennial, Jake Hutchings scored 18 points, and Isaiah Banks added 14 points as the Bulldogs rolled by the Bengals.
Troy Brown added 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and teammate Darian Scott had 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots for Centennial, which led 52-17 at the half and 73-29 after three quarters.
Deon Branch led Bonanza with 12 points, and teammate Davian Jordan scored 10.
Desert Oasis 82, Cimarron-Memorial 65 — At Desert Oasis, Jacob Heese made four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as the Diamondbacks downed the Spartans.
Aamondae Coleman had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Drevin Cannon scored 14, and Taiga Miyano made all three of his 3-point attempts en route to 13 points for Desert Oasis.
Ja’Don Brown had 17 points to pace Cimarron. Jeremiah Broussard supplied 15 points, and Demarco Alexander scored 14 for the Spartans.
Word of Life 56, Sandy Valley 37 — At Word of Life, Trent McCall scored 12 points as the Eagles routed the Sidewinders.
Elijah Hoye added 10 points for Word of Life, which outscored the Sidewinders 24-8 in the first quarter to take control.
Wyatt Robinson scored 10 points to lead Sandy Valley.
Adelson School 53, Spring Mountain 41 — At Indian Springs, Miles Hagen had 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Lions defeated the Golden Eagles.
Brandon Pappas added 10 points and 14 rebounds for Adelson School.
D’Quan Porchia and Guy Whitley each had 12 points for Spring Mountain.
Coronado vs. Green Valley — The Coronado at Green Valley game was postponed because of malfunctioning lighting. A makeup date was not announced.
