DIVISION IV BASKETBALL: Porchia drives Spring Mountain past Round Mountain

D’Quan Porchia scored 28 points Wednesday to lead Spring Mountain’s boys basketball team to an 84-51 win over Round Mountain in a Division IV Southern League quarterfinal at Indian Springs.

Guy Whitley added 20 points for the Golden Eagles, who led 38-34 at the half. Elijah Maddickes scored 15 points for Spring Mountain (13-7), which will face Adelson School (11-8) in a semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday at Desert Pines.

Austin Hayes had 19 points, and teammate Payton Brown scored 12 for the Knights (13-11).

Pahranagat Valley 45, Beaver Dam 24 — At Alamo, Culen Highbe scored 12 points to guide the Panthers to victory over the Diamondbacks.

Tabor Maxwell added seven points for Pahranagat Valley (18-9), which raced to a 26-7 halftime advantage and will face Word of Life (15-3) in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday at Desert Pines.

Nick Miromontes scored 11 points to lead Beaver Dam (9-9).

GIRLS

Beaver Dam 31, Tonopah 28 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Cheyenne Dahlberg’s layup keyed a 6-0 game-ending run to help the Diamondbacks rally by the Muckers in a Southern League quarterfinal.

Jailene Hernandez scored four points during the run and assisted on Dahlberg’s go-ahead layup.

Hernandez finished with 19 points for Beaver Dam (20-5), which will face Round Mountain (16-5) in a semifinal at 6:20 p.m. Friday at Desert Pines.

Julia Klapper led Tonopah (5-14) with 13 points.
