Future College Prep hands Findlay first home loss

Future College Prep (Calif.) hit a stick-back basket with 1.6 seconds left Wednesday to hand Findlay Prep the program’s first home loss in its eight-year history, 73-71.

The Pilots, ranked No. 1 nationally by USA Today, had won 92 consecutive home games and 61 consecutive regular-season games overall. Findlay Prep hadn’t lost a regular-season game since a 67-66 setback against La Lumiere (Ind.) on Dec. 29, 2011. The Pilots finished last season with a 60-57 loss to St Benedict’s Prep in the National High School Invitational.

Findlay Prep’s Derryck Thornton hit a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left to tie the game before Future College Prep scored off an offensive rebound.

Craig Victor and Rashad Vaughn each had 19 points, and Kelly Oubre scored 18 for the Pilots (13-1).
