Roundup: Jamal Bey, Bishop Gorman hold off Durango

Bishop Gorman’s Jamal Bey scored 27 points as the Gaels held on for a 74-71 boys basketball victory over host Durango on Friday.

Durango had a chance to tie the game with two seconds remaining but Anthony Hunter’s 3-point attempt came up short.

Isaiah Cottrell scored 16 points, Noah Taitz had 15 points and Will McClendon added 11 points for Gorman.

Hunter scored a game-high 33 points to lead the Trailblazers.

Nicquel Blake scored 14 points, and LeAndre McIntyre had 10 points and seven rebounds for Durango.

Vernell Watts had 10 rebounds for the Trailblazers.

Faith Lutheran 55, Cimarron-Memorial 53 — At Faith Lutheran, Dalton Kincaid scored on a putback at the buzzer to lift the Crusaders past the Spartans.

Kincaid had 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds Faith Lutheran. Brevin Walter also scored 14 points for the Crusaders, and teammate Elijah Kothe added 12 points.

George Tribble scored 16 points to lead the Spartans.

Brian Lang added 11 points, and Brian Washington and Noa Winquist each scored 10 points for Cimarron.

Cheyenne 68, Mojave 60 — At Cheyenne, Ke’Shawn Hall had 21 points and was 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to lead the Desert Shields past the Rattlers.

Damon Bonty added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Cheyenne.

Chris Jackson led three Mojave players in double figures with 18 points. Tyrice Pender added 12 points, and Noah Sherrard scored 10 for the Rattlers.

Sunrise Christian (Kansas) 67, Findlay Prep 61 — At Hagerstown, Maryland, N’Faly Dante had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and the Buffaloes used an 11-2 run in the final three minutes to upset the Pilots in the semifinals of the St. James Invitational Tournament.

Blake Hinson added 15 points — all on 3-pointers — for Sunrise Christian, which is ranked 19th nationally by USA Today.

Bol Bol led Findlay Prep with 18 points, and teammate Kyler Edwards scored 10 for the Pilots, ranked fifth nationally.

Coronado 94, Green Valley 68 — At Coronado, Jaden Hardy had 35 points, and Taieem Comeaux had 25 points and 17 rebounds as the Cougars knocked off the Gators.

Tahj Comeaux had 13 points for Coronado, and teammate Tyrelle Hunt had seven points and 11 rebounds.

Kaden Jackson had 20 points for Green Valley, which got 15 points from Michael Jackson.

Sunrise Mountain 69, Western 51 — At Sunrise Mountain, Dalvin Brown had 22 points to lead the Miners over the Warriors.

Steven Adeyemi added 13 points, and Xavier Kyles scored 12 for Sunrise Mountain, which outscored Western 42-27 in the second half.

Ka’Mari Kelly led Western with 23 points, and teammate Kizhonie Blunt scored 11.

Desert Pines 64, Pahrump Valley 52 — At Pahrump, Semaj Threats scored 16 points to lead the Jaguars past the Trojans.

Darnell Washington added 10 points for the Jaguars, who led 32-21 at the half.

Antonio Fortin scored a game-high 26 points to lead Pahrump, and teammate Bryce Odegard added 12 points.

Canyon Springs 91, Chaparral 42 — At Canyon Springs, Kevin Legardy scored 18 points as the Pioneers rolled past the Cowboys.

Jorden Williams scored 15 points, Alexander Spaight scored 11 points and De’Shawn Keperling added 10 points for the Pioneers, who outscored the Cowboys 35-17 in the first quarter.

Meshach Hawkins scored 10 points to lead Chaparral.

Arbor View 83, Palo Verde 65 — At Palo Verde, Comillion Smith had 16 points in the Aggies’ win over the Panthers.

Tyre Williams had 13 points, Larry Holmes had 11 points, and Favor Chukwukelu and Jarrod Burks each scored 10 for Arbor View.

Tieman Allen had 14 points to lead Palo Verde. Dylan Yoro scored 11 for the Panthers, and teammate Daniel Bellinger had 10 points.

Mountain View 62, Laughlin 47 — At Mountain View, senior twins Terrence and Tyrell Brooks each scored 25 points to lead the Saints past the Cougars.

Tyrell Brooks added 13 rebounds and five steals, and Terrence Brooks had 11 rebounds and six steals.

Tyrone Butler added 10 points for Mountain View, which connected on 11 3-pointers.

Brandon Nelson scored 13 points to lead Laughlin.

Democracy Prep 70, The Meadow 16 — At Democracy Prep, Najeeb Muhammed had 13 points and 15 assists, and Jared Holmes added 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Blue Knights in a rout of the Mustangs.

Akeemis Williams also scored 13 points for the Blue Knights, who led 50-14 at halftime.

Brett Lieuallen scored five points to lead the Mustangs.

Indian Springs 61, Sandy Valley 39 — At Sandy Valley, Dallin Davis had 33 points to lead the Thunderbirds over the Sidewinders.

Brandon Eastham had had 14 points for Sandy Valley.

Liberty Baptist 54, Round Mountain 51 — At Round Mountain, Christian Ramirez hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left to lift Liberty Baptist to the win.

Trevor Campbell led Liberty Baptist with 24 points. Ramirez added 12 points, and Issiah Smith scored 10 for Liberty Baptist.
