ROUNDUP: Kirkwood’s late heroics give Valley boys win over Chaparral

Khristian Kirkwood drained a 16-foot jump shot with about five seconds to play to give Valley’s boys basketball team a 60-58 home victory over Chaparral on Monday.

Kirkwood finished with 12 points and seven assists.

Christian Kessee led the Vikings with 13 points, and Angelo Coleman had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Valley, which outrebounded the Cowboys 31-18.

Zachary Kirschbaum led Chaparral with 15 points, and Devonte’ White added 12.

Western 62, Sierra Vista 60 — At Sierra Vista, Kentrell Washington hit a pair of free throws to give the Warriors the lead, and Viko

Noma’aea’s 3-pointer rimmed out as time expired as Western edged the Lions.

Washington finished with 14 points. Sir Washington had 15 points and Kenyon Washington added 10 for the Warriors.

Sierra Vista’s Noma’aea led all scorers with 34 points.

Canyon Springs 80, Rancho 76 — At Rancho, Donald Anderson had 21 points to help the Pioneers rally to beat the Rams.

Michael Thompson added 18 points for Canyon Springs, which outscored Rancho 30-23 in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Adrian Snow had 13 points and Jeremy Alexander scored 11 for the Pioneers.

Amir Royal led Rancho with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Tyler Gaston added 16 points and 12 boards for the Rams.

Eldorado 69, Desert Pines 61 — At Eldorado, Curtis Stewart had 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Sundevils past the Jaguars.

Stewart had nine points in the third quarter as Eldorado outscored Desert Pines 21-8 to take a 49-36 lead.

Shawn Carter scored eight of his 10 points in the third quarter for the Sundevils.

Tyler Larson had 21 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, to lead Desert Pines. Chancellor Davis added 11 points for the Jaguars.

Clark 61, Pahrump Valley 48 — At Pahrump, Steven Dancy scored 23 points to lead the Chargers past the Trojans.

Dancy surpassed the 1,000-point mark on his career, totaling 1,006 points with the win.

Alejandro Rangel added 12 points for Clark.

Alex Anderson and Dajhan Celius each scored 13 points for Pahrump.

Spring Valley 69, Bonanza 56 — At Bonanza, Corey Clement and Trey Whitley each scored 17 points to power the Grizzlies past the Bengals.

Anthony Moore added 13 points for Spring Valley. Vince Johnson and Anton Stallworth chipped in 10 points apiece for the Grizzlies.

Dasean Martin led Bonanza with 19 points.

Bishop Gorman 84, Durango 55 — At Durango, the Gaels had 12 players in the scorer’s column, led by Johnathan Loyd’s 19 points, as they easily defeated the Trailblazers.

Anson Winder scored 18 points and Shabazz Muhammad added 15 for Gorman.

Durango’s Devonte Williams had 21 points, and Greg Gentry scored 17 for the Trailblazers.

Las Vegas 99, Sunrise Mountain 69 — At Las Vegas, the Wildcats shut down the Miners in the second quarter, outscoring them 33-4 en route to the blowout victory.

Five players scored in double figures for Las Vegas, led by Tyree Anderson’s game-high 22 points.

Hasaan Henderson and Travon Langston each scored 12 points, Mario Wess had 11 points and Saeveon Butler added 10 points for the Wildcats.

Sunrise Mountain’s Matthew Marshall had 19 points. Fharhaad Zinnamon had 16 points and Jalal Hall chipped in 11 for the Miners.

Needles 81, Calvary Chapel 74 — At Calvary Chapel, Michael Hills had 20 points and eight assists, and the Mustangs took a 50-35 halftime lead and held off the Lions.

Aaron Burns added 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Anthony Ramos had 15 points and eight assists for Needles.

Brandon Corbitt led Calvary Chapel with 25 points. Joey Peterson scored 20 and Justin Cox added 12 for the Lions.

Adelson School 66, Indian Springs 52 — At Adelson School, the Lions led 15-2 after the first quarter and went on to defeat the Thunderbirds.

Gil Reginiano scored 18 points and Gabi Bornstein had 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead Adelson.

Adam Reinke scored 26 points, and teammate Brock Roadhouse added 16 points for Indian Springs.
