VEGAS INVITATIONAL: Mustangs fall in third-place game
Matthew Stevens had 17 points Thursday to lead Sandy (Oregon) to a 71-55 win over The Meadows in the third-place game of the Vegas Invitational at Mountain View.
Mason Gorski added 12 points for Sandy, which led 40-22 at the half.
Jake Epstein paced The Meadows with 23 points, and teammate Joe Epstein added 10 points.
Epstein made the all-tournament team along with Gorski, Jo Jo Walker from St. Joseph (California), Jeremy Sicarios from Buhach Colony (California), Shawn Wayans from Buckley (California) and Bronson Montgomery from Carlsbad (California).
Walker, who led St. Joseph to a 73-46 victory over Carlsbad in the championship game, was the Most Valuable Player.
Moapa Valley 62, Pahrump Valley 45 — Nathanial Thompson had 24 points to power the Pirates over the Trojans.
Trey Jones added 14 points for Moapa Valley.
Antonio Fortin led Pahrump with 23 points.
Bonanza 49, Mountain View 37 — Chase Hafen had 14 points, and Brandon Noone scored 12 as the Bengals topped the Saints.
Tyrell Brooks scored 23 to leadMountain View.
Adelson School 65, Brethren Christian (Calif.) 40 — Miles Hagan had 16 points to help the Lions top the Warriors.
Brandon Pappas added 14 points, and Jacob Elharrar scored 10 for Adelson School, which led 39-26 at the half.
Carlos Lopez paced Brethren Christian with 16 points.
Spring Mountain 57, River Valley (Ariz.) 52 — Jaylon McKenzie had 21 points as the Golden Eagles overcame a slow start and downed the Dust Devils.
Deon Lee added 16 points for Spring Mountain, which trailed 16-5 after one quarter.
Justin Chinn led River Valley with 15 points.
Granite Hills (Calif.) 67, Mountain View 39 — Cameron Spitzer had 17 points, and Granite Hills raced out to a 48-13 halftime lead en route to a win over the Saints.
Tyrell Brooks had 24 points for Mountain View, and teammate Terrence Brooks added 11 points.
