GIRLS BASKETBALL: Green Valley beats Basic to clinch postseason berth

Samara Miller had 15 points, and Brooke Haney added 14 points, as Green Valley’s girls basketball team defeated host Basic 62-50 on Tuesday to clinch a postseason berth.

Jamaica Lewis finished with 11 points, and Mallory Davis scored 10 for the Gators, who will be the No. 4 seed from the Southeast League for the Class 4A Sunrise Region tournament next week.

Green Valley outscored the Wolves 23-11 in the third quarter to extend a 31-23 halftime lead.

Gail Robinson led Basic with 11 points. Krista Kachnik and Mikayla Berg each had 10 points, and Kailey Taylor posted nine points and 11 rebounds for the Wolves.

Liberty 65, Silverado 16 — At Silverado, London Pavlica scored 17 points, and the Patriots clinched the Southeast League title outright with a win over the Skyhawks.

Dre’una Edwards added 14 points for Liberty, which led 25-0 after the first quarter.

Jasmine Waugh led Silverado with eight points.

Foothill 61, Coronado 29 — At Coronado, Trinity Betoney scored 16 points as the Falcons defeated the Cougars.

Rae Burrell had 15 points, and Kylie Vint added 10 points for Foothill, which raced out to a 34-14 halftime lead.

Tia Thornton led the Cougars with 11 points.

Faith Lutheran 70, Palo Verde 43 — At Faith Lutheran, Bryanna Neagle notched 22 points to lead the Crusaders by the Panthers.

Casey Proctor had 12 points, and Kayla Proctor added 11 points for Faith Lutheran, which used a 22-6 first-quarter spurt to take control.

Kedrena Johnson led Palo Verde with 11 points.

Shadow Ridge 65, Cimarron-Memorial 53 — At Shadow Ridge, Alexa Martins led four players in double figures with a game-high 20 points as the Mustangs topped the Spartans.

Isis Triplett tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds, Caitlyn Covington had 12 points, and Summer Plunkett supplied 11 points and 10 rebounds for Shadow Ridge.

Tasia Moore had 17 points, and Amoura Whitney scored 16 for Cimarron.

Bishop Gorman 66, Bonanza 29 — At Bonanza, Angelita Bugay scored 11 points to lead a balanced attack as the Gaels routed the Bengals.

Georgia Ohiaeri added nine points for Gorman, which led 46-11 at halftime.

Madie Gonzalez led Bonanza with 12 points.

Mojave 49, Sunrise Mountain 46 — At Sunrise Mountain, Savannah Blanchard-Davis poured in 29 points to help the Rattlers nip the Miners in overtime.

Daria Gray and Kiara Lemon added six points apiece for Mojave, which trailed 22-19 at halftime.

Emani White had 29 points for Sunrise Mountain.

Cheyenne 46, Pahrump Valley 36 — At Pahrump, Ejanae Coopwood tallied 14 points as the Desert Shields held off the Trojans.

Starr Hawkins added seven points for Cheyenne, which led by three at halftime and held Pahrump Valley to four points in the third quarter to pull away.

Alyvia Briscoe scored 12 points for Pahrump Valley.

Desert Pines 58, Western 23 — At Desert Pines, See’Airrah Evans-Collins had 19 points, 10 rebounds and three steals to lead the Jaguars to a rout of the Warriors.

Heaven Heacock added 16 points for Desert Pines, which led 16-0 after the first quarter and 37-12 at halftime.

Adrianna Jones paced Western with 12 points.

Needles 64, Adelson School 17 — At Adelson School, Jayne Antone scored 16 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Mustangs topped the Lions.

Brenna Chavez supplied 10 points for Needles, which drained five 3-pointers and had nine players score.

Brittany Risko scored 10 points to pace Adelson School.

Lake Mead 37, Mountain View 35 — At Lake Mead, Aaliyah Perkins had nine points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles edged the Saints.

Jilian Morejon had eight points, and Josey White scored seven for Lake Mead, which outscored Mountain View 21-9 in the second half. The game was tied at 26 at halftime.

Nia Van Kempen led Mountain View with 13 points.

Agassi Prep 74, Laughlin 31 — At Agassi Prep, Destiny Rover finished with 23 points, and the Stars rolled past the Cougars.

Sharmayne Finley had 12 points, Pa’Shun Minter added 11 points, and Denise Parker scored 10 for Agassi Prep, which led 51-14 at halftime.

Teresa Chapa led Laughlin with 12 points, and teammate Amanda Miller scored nine.

White Pine 51, Pahranagat Valley 42 — At Ely, the Bobcats downed the Panthers.

Word of Life 49, Sandy Valley 45 — At Sandy Valley, the Eagles secured a spot in the Class 1A Southern League playoffs by edging the Sidewinders.
