GIRLS BASKETBALL: Harper helps Mountain Lions top Cheyenne, clinch playoff spot

Shania Harper had 15 points and 15 rebounds Wednesday to help Sierra Vista’s girls basketball team secure the final playoff spot in the Division I-A Sunset League with a 54-41 win at Cheyenne.

Danielle Morrow added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Mountain Lions, who will visit Sunrise League champion Chaparral in a Southern Region quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Bishop Gorman 70, Legacy 27 — At Gorman, Madison Washington had 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Gaels secured the Southwest League title by routing the Longhorns.

Raychel Stanley added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Gorman, which led 37-16 at the half.

Megan Jacobs added 11 points and seven assists, and Ciara Young scored 10 for the Gaels.

Otilia Price led Legacy with 10 points.

Chaparral 41, Desert Pines 37 — At Desert Pines, Marcia Hawkins scored 19 points as the Cowboys rallied by the Jaguars.

Jade Hazelton added nine points for Chaparral, which trailed 32-26 after three quarters.

Jordan Bailey led Desert Pines with 10 points.

Western 39, Mojave 23 — At Western, Capricia Pierce scored 17 points to lead the Warriors by the Rattlers.

Destiny Gonzalez added 12 points for Western, which held Mojave scoreless in the second quarter and led 19-3 at halftime.

Savannah Blanchard-Davis had 14 points for Mojave.

Tech 58, Del Sol 47 — At Tech, Leslie Williams scored 23 points, and the Roadrunners used a 24-12 fourth-quarter run to down the Dragons.

Tayler Muwwakkil added 19 points for Tech.

Ana Ozuna led Del Sol with 23 points.

Spring Valley 50, Pahrump Valley 23 — At Pahrump, Alyssa Scott scored 13 points as the Grizzlies defeated the Trojans.

Lynnae Wilds had 11 points for Spring Valley, which led 17-2 after one quarter.

Lauren Ashford scored seven points for Pahrump.

Palo Verde 80, Durango 59 — At Palo Verde, Brooklyn Cruz scored 25 points, and Paulina Silcox added 20 points as the Panthers downed the Trailblazers.

Kaylee Puckett chipped in with 18 points for Palo Verde, which led 25-6 after the first quarter.

Brittany Romo scored 27 points for Durango, which got 12 points each from Laila Loring and Rejasia Coleman.

Moapa Valley 66, Sunrise Mountain 29 — At Overton, Shelbi Walker and Tapanga Durham scored 11 points each as the Pirates routed the Miners.

Summer Evans added nine points for Moapa Valley, which led only 24-13 at the half before pulling away.

Tayaa Pratt scored 21 points for Sunrise Mountain.

Faith Lutheran 67, Clark 15 — At Faith Lutheran, Sam Caruth hit five 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 21 points as the Crusaders routed the Chargers.

Bryanna Neagle had 14 points for Faith Lutheran, which led 31-7 after one quarter and 47-7 at the half.

Maddy Larson had 11 points, and Madison Bocobo scored 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Marieka Dent led Clark with five points.
