GIRLS BASKETBALL: Nieves’ free throws send Mountain Lions by Miners

Kennedy Nieves hit two free throws with six seconds left in the game Wednesday to lift Sierra Vista’s girls basketball team to a 40-38 home win over Sunrise Mountain.

Nieves had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Iymoni Burrell scored 10 for the Mountain Lions.

Tre’Licia Quinn, Nina Carpenter, and Whykella Haley each scored eight points to lead the Miners.

Arbor View 51, Coronado 39 — At Arbor View, Ariona Gill had 13 points, 15 rebounds and five steals to help the Aggies down the Cougars.

Katrina Nordstrom added 13 points for Arbor View, which outscored Coronado 17-6 in the third quarter.

Karlie Thorn paced Coronado with 11 points.

Clark 44, Pahrump Valley 26 — At Pahrump, Bobbi Floyd poured in 31 points to help the Chargers down the Trojans.

Jill Smith scored eight points for Pahrump, which led 11-6 after one quarter.

Green Valley 57, Desert Oasis 50 — At Desert Oasis, Gwen Garcia had 13 points to lift the Gators by the Diamondbacks.

Ellee Barton added nine points for Green Valley, which shot 19-for-27 from the free-throw line.

Desert Oasis’ Mikala Kirby led all scorers with 27 points.

Del Sol 52, Western 44 — At Western, Astrid Rodriguez scored 23 points to help the Dragons beat the Warriors.

Azhwalaee Oliver added nine points for Del Sol.

Capricia Pierce had 15 points, and Destiny Gonzalez scored 13 for the Warriors.

Beaver Dam 49, Laughlin 42 — At Laughlin, Jailene Hernandez and Sol Rosas each scored 14 points to help the Diamondbacks hold off the Cougars.

Tania Delgado added 10 points for Beaver Dam.

Teresa Chapa and Kayla Nelson scored 14 points apiece for Laughlin.

Mojave 50, Coral Academy 8 — At Mojave, Keyara Lemon scored 11 points, and the Rattlers led 36-0 at halftime on their way to a rout of the Falcons.

Taylor Austin scored six points for Coral Academy.
