GIRLS BASKETBALL: Rams edge Vikings in OT
LaKissa Martin hit a 3-pointer from the corner at the regulation buzzer to force overtime, and Rancho’s girls basketball team made 5 of 6 free throws in the extra period Thursday to pull out a 43-38 victory at Valley.
Martin finished with 16 points, and Maureen Macato scored 12 for the Rams, who let a 21-9 halftime lead slip away and trailed 36-33 after Valley’s Gabrielle Cabanero made two free throws with six seconds left.
Kennedy Wharton had 16 points, and Eimainei Thomas-Palmer added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings.
Coronado 65, Eldorado 50 — At Coronado, Grace Green and Dajah Washington each scored 16 points to guide the Cougars past the Sundevils.
Karlie Thorn and Samantha Green added eight points apiece for Coronado, which jumped out to a 37-22 halftime lead.
DeNisheun Jackson had 22 points, and Deasia Walker supplied 13 points to lead Eldorado.
Shadow Ridge 57, Sierra Vista 46 — At Sierra Vista, Jaylan Johnson scored 10 of her 17 points in the second half to help the Mustangs rally past the Mountain Lions.
Michelle Wager added eight points for Shadow Ridge, which trailed 22-15 at the half and outscored Sierra Vista 27-10 in the fourth quarter.
Kennedy Nieves had 10 points for the Mountain Lions.
Green Valley 56, Silverado 27 — At Silverado, Rianna Rudolph scored 13 points as the Gators downed the Skyhawks.
Ellee Barton had 11 points, and Brooke Haney added 10 points for Green Valley.
Deja Siaki had nine points to lead Silverado.
Foothill 66, Basic 32 — At Basic, Kelsey McFarland had 17 points, and Taylor Turney scored 16 as the Falcons topped the Wolves.
Katey Roquemore had 12 points for Foothill, which led 22-7 after the first quarter.
Jayla Brown led Basic with 17 points.
Canyon Springs 66, Las Vegas 32 — At Las Vegas, Alexia Thrower scored 17 points, and Daijhan Cooks had 16 points to help the Pioneers defeat the Wildcats.
Cherise Beynon added 13 points for Canyon Springs, which outscored Las Vegas 40-10 in the second half.
Shaleea Butler led the Wildcats with 11 points.
Faith Lutheran 55, Mojave 20 — At Faith Lutheran, Dani Tharaldson scored 19 points to lead the Crusaders past the Rattlers.
Morgan Hill supplied 12 points, and Haley Vinson added 10 points for Faith Lutheran.
Darria Gray had nine points to lead Mojave.
Palo Verde 45, Spring Valley 17 — At Spring Valley, Brooklyn Cruz and Nallah Thomas-McDade each scored 12 points to guide the Panthers to an easy win over the Grizzlies.
Samantha Meredith led Spring Valley with six points.
Liberty 71, Del Sol 23 — At Del Sol, Paris Strawther scored 16 points as the Patriots routed the Dragons.
Kealy Brown added 13 points for Liberty, which led 47-12 at the half.
Sayanna Roy paced Del Sol with 10 points.
Moapa Valley 38, Tech 24 — At Overton, Makayla Jackson had 13 points to propel the Pirates to victory over the Roadrunners.
Linna Hernandez and DaniElle Russo each added seven points for Moapa Valley.
Lidia Wossen paced Tech with six points.
Beatty 33, Indian Springs 27 — At Indian Springs, Denise Gonzalez led a balanced attack with 10 points as the Hornets defeated the Thunderbirds.
Baylee McCormick and Hannah Thormahlen each supplied 10 points for Indian Springs.
