GIRLS BASKETBALL: Watterson leads Cougars to win in Tournament of Champions

Kayla Watterson had 11 points and 10 rebounds Saturday to lead Coronado’s girls basketball team to a 48-34 win over St. Patrick (Canada) in the Tournament of Champions in Phoenix.

Karlie Thorn had 12 points, and Dajah Washington scored 11 for the Cougars.

Clovis West (Calif.) 55, Centennial 52 — At Phoenix, Megan Anderson scored 21 points to lead the Golden Eagles by the Bulldogs in the Tournament of Champions.

Sarah Bates added 15 points for Clovis West, which used a 20-9 second-quarter run to take a 28-24 halftime lead.

Karina Brandon had 23 points and 14 rebounds for Centennial.

White Pine 55, Calvary Chapel 15 — At Ely, Debra Kingston scored 18 points, and the Bobcats grabbed a 26-5 halftime lead on their way to a win over the Lions.

Jenna Mace led Calvary Chapel with six points.

Lincoln County 50, The Meadows 38 — At Panaca, Kayla Mathews led a balanced offense with 10 points as the Lynx topped the Mustangs.

Bailey Gosse had 17 points and four steals, and Delaney Gosse added eight points, eight assists and six rebounds for The Meadows.

Panguitch (Utah) 65, Desert Oasis 44 — At Mesquite, Darri Frandsen had 23 points as Panguitch topped the Diamondbacks in the semifinals of the Bulldog Invitational.

Chesney Campbell added 17 points for Panguitch, which outscored Desert Oasis 16-8 in the third quarter to pull away.

Mikala Kirby led the Diamondbacks with 18 points, and teammate Taryn Lampkin scored 12.

Panguitch beat Dixie (Utah) 64-22 in the championship game.

Dixie (Utah) 34, Virgin Valley 31 — At Mesquite, Aubri Challis had 13 points as Dixie topped the Bulldogs in the semifinals of the Bulldog Invitational.

Bernice Fiso scored 11 for Virgin Valley.

Moapa Valley 43, Valley 33 — At Mesquite, Kinlee Marshall had 10 points as the Pirates beat the Vikings in the Bulldog Invitational.

Eimainei Thomas-Palmer led Valley with 11 points.

Desert Oasis 61, Wells 19 — At Mesquite, Kirby had 24 points as the Diamondbacks routed the Leopards in the Bulldog Invitational.

Lampkin added 11 points, and Ashlynn Sharp scored 10 for Desert Oasis, which led 33-9 at the half.
